In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
acclivity \ah*kliv*itee\, noun:
acclivities; noun, plural
acclivitous; adjective
1. An upward slope
2. Ascending, ascent
It prompted the matron to say that she would walk a little way--as far as to the point where the acclivity from the valley began its first steep ascent to the outer world.
--Thomas Hardy, Tess of the d'Urbervilles - A Pure Woman
Etymology: Latin acclivites, from acclivis, uphill: ad-, ad- + clivus, slope; see klei- in Indo-European Roots.]
I popped a cap in em and tossed him on the barbee.
Man, you are so OLD...
:^)
So, now you've tipped your hand by signing your post at NRO...
The acclivitous rise in our Commander in Chiefs poll numbers are in direct corrolation with the acclivitous rise in John Kerry's heartburn and has caused him to throw his loyal staff over the side of his "Swift" boat for relief.
HAH! I saw that over there, and am considering suing the pants off Jonah. I'd take Cosmo in settlement, but I can't have pets in my apartment. I wish they'd tell the cockroaches aboot that no-pet policy, but that's another story...
Afternoon! It was sprinkling rain on my jobsite, so I'm back home doing billing-
Between the lunatics loose in NYC
And the violence they embrace
It begins to look like their "protest"
Will blow up in the 'rat party's face
And Tahrayzza can't compare with Laura
Who is a lady in every sense-
She just makes the ketchup queen
Look mad as a March hare, and dense
I hope her John F'n poodle
Has been a victim of his arrogant pride
As Dubya reaches the acclivity
And he goes into a downward slide
Iforgot in my haste typing that recipe to add a vital ingredient-unless you are serving the stew over rice, you should add to the pot with all the other stuff:
1/2 lb of new red potatoes (the little bitty ones), halved
Sorry about that...
I always knew those GFiles had a familiar cant to them ; )
HAH!!
Didn't I tell you, I married at age 8? lol (Thanks)
Robert you dirty old man! lol...... The only guy I'm keeping up in public is my Marine...... how the heck do you think I got him to stay with me all these years?
Well, we know you married and 8 right away, but what did you do the next knight?
Yes, adding pots is always good when cookin'
Couldn't wait to get started? That's my girl!
You're weird.
Hey!
Don't look at me!
T5 is the one who is addin' pots to what she's cookin'
I've only had one Knight......
"add TO the pot with all the other stuff:
1/2 lb of new red potatoes (the little bitty ones), halved
The pot is already in use, Robert-you just add the potatoes to it with all the other ingredients before you put it on the stove and turn on the burner.
Good, skilled and chivalrous knights are hard to come by, and certainly worth keeping forever when you do find one-truly a man of knightly virtues, as it were (leave it alone, Robert)...
