MTV, ROLLING STONE and the rock and roll establishment -- past and present -- have cast their vote, and their man is John Kerry.
So on Sunday night when John Kerry's daughters were announced to speak at the annual MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, the MTV youth were expected to welcome his daughter's as pop culture princesses.
Instead, in an era of the unexpected, the daughters of the Democratic candidate were met with a resounding wall of boos at the filming in Miami.
From the moment Alexandra and Vanessa started speaking, the boos outweighed anything close to cheers, and the reaction turned worse when the daughters asked the VIACOM youth to vote for their father. So shocked by the reaction, the taller of the two daughters tried to 'shhhhhh' her peers to no avail.
Blame it on Katherine Harris!
Immediate calls for a recount emerged from the Kerry camp. 'They must have thought they were the Bush twins!' Lawyers have been called in to overturn the results and ABC'S NIGHTLINE is on the verge of doing wall to wall town hall meetings to try to talk America's youth back to their senses.
Calls to Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter, REM's Michael Stipe, Moby and MTV's Judy McGrath asking for an explanation were all left unreturned.
Developing...
Booing? Probably a bunch of hamster haters.
ROTFL!
The fact is that I think music fans are sick and tired of the music industry trying to push politics down their throats.
They all ought to SHUT UP AND SING!
After all, they are just entertainers. Leave the politics out of it.
Yeah, I think you've made the best comment so far.
So they are. They favor their sire, not their dam.
> They haven't done a good job of rocking the vote, have they?
It will be interesting to see what the real backstory
is on this.
The leading explanations are:
* crowd making a statement on John F. Kerry
* crowd too loopy to follow directions
Either is not encouraging for JfK at the polls.
But we can't yet rule out that the crowd thought
the gals were someone else, or were responding
to something else.
..they sleep all day, play most of the night, they don't pay any attn. to current events.
{and they want to appear smart to their fans.}..my input. GO! Alice Cooper GO! :))
Politics aside, I liked that see-through dress from Canes. Otherwise, I can't say that either one does much for me.
Of course, they're human beings and I'm sorry if their feelings were hurt today. But give the vile, horrible insults that constantly get hurled at anyone to the right of Bill Clinton, I can't be too unhappy if the left gets a little taste of their own medicine.
Anarcho-gothists and slackerdopies don't like pro-militarism - even faux pro-militarism? It isn't Mark Goodman's MTV any more...
The one Kerry sister's nose is so big should could literally suck all the oxygen out of the room, she IS a weapon of mass destruction. :^)
Wash yer mouth out with soap...
Replay is about to show the boos, sometime in the next 15 minutes...

Kerry Daughters Booed at
MTV Video Music Awards

CLINTON, MS -- It appears that MTV push of
Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry
may not have paid off as well as possible.
In an appearance at Sunday nights' MTV Video
Music Awards the two daughters were greeted
with some cheers, but many boos.
At one point one of the daughters even held her
finger to her mouth in an effort to "shush" the
roudy crowd. The shush made little difference
in the audience attitude. The boos only grew
louder when the daughters suggested that the
best choice for a President in this years' election
was their father.
This comes as a surprise to many due to the
liberal stance MTV and their parent company
VIACOM have been said to push on their
programs.
This comes on the heels of much criticism of
MTV News corespondent Gideon Yago after
Yago unvieled his bipatisan wings at the Democratic National Convention. Yago's constant crticism of Bush and constant praise of Kerry simply added to the already tainted list of "Why MTV is anti-Bush."
The Bush daughters appeared later on in the program. However, the reaction from the crowd was difficult to hear when MTV cut to the feed via satelite.
More on this story as it develops.
Man, I thought Kerry had a lock on it! You mean Bush can still grab the Hip Hop vote? Awesome!
It's late brother.
Lol, you've got that one right...
Bush has some FINE daughters...
Kerry, like algore, is a bore.
