You know, I can maybe understand him not noticing that his buddy got low-bridged when it actually happened. Maybe. But I think that in his place I would notice the blood spraying out all over the inside of my car, no matter how drunk I was.

when I first read this I thought the guy just drove home to cover up the accident and the fact that he was drunk, wanting to let the alcohol get out of his bloodstream.
then I went back and read it again, realizing he was so drunk that he had no idea his buddy was dead when he left the truck - this is very disturbing- not just the accident, but that someone could get so drunk that they don't realize there is a headless body sitting next to them. yuck.
