I have been looking for an XM Roady2 receiver, to listen to Pac 10 football this season, and I have found most of the XM products are sold out.

I had an order that was cancelled at Amazon, and tried Circuit City, Good Guys, Target, Crutchfield, Fry's and a couple others. Sold out everywhrere.

Lots of Sirius available. XM is leading in the subscriber race.

check out xm411.com

Go to Sirius web site to see all available programming.
We have them, and I've been very happy with it.
I dropped cable TV, and listen to the ENTIRE Fox News programming on their Sirius channel.
We compared it an XM...I honestly can't tell you why we went with Sirius lol
They carry some lefty channels, but they have ALOT of conservative programming. We've especially been pleased to get Jerry Doyle's radio show.

I did a lot of checking before I bought my Roady2 at circut city. XM is a larger company and less likely to go belly up.

If you go to each companies website they will have listing of program content.

If you live in a big city with lots of high buildings it will affect reception.

Best Buy carries XM & Sirius.

In buying a unit. Mr.C4E and I live in a rural area and can only bring in KFIam. KABC is none too good. So we are thinking of satellite radio and are interested in comparison programming before we decide what to go with. Thanks for all the replies.

New cars are being equipped with XM.I suspect it will be the VHS and Sirrus will be the Beta.

I am a huge fan of Sirius. But when you get right down to it, they're both pretty much the same in terms of equipment, sound quality, range, etc. The only real difference is in the programming (Sirius tends to be more eclectic) and cost (Sirius is $3 more per month, though you can pay for a year upfront and they'll give you a discount which evens it out).

If I were you, I would just go to both web sites and compare the available channels. Whichever one you like more, pick that one.

Sirius will let you sign up for a free "three-day pass" on their site where you can listen to their music streams live over your computer. (If you do sign up with them, you'll be able listen to those streams free 24/7; handy if you're at work.) I'm pretty sure XM has some similar "try it online" offer.

Also, Sirius has several major sports locked up, so if half the reason you're buying a satellite radio is to be able to hear sports broadcasts, make sure you know which service has the rights.

If you have children you may want to lean towards XM because the other has a Gay station and you may not want the kids to listen. There is no way to delete a station.

Reception in the outer areas for both is very good.

This is false. You can block a station on a Sirius tuner just like you can block a channel on your cable TV.

Sirius has two all-conservative talk channels, as well as a couple of religious stations. But if you're interested in certain syndicated talk radio hosts, you'd better check both service's web sites closely, because most of them only are available on one or the other, and many aren't available on either.

You can find all of the programming listed on http://www.sirius.com and http://www.xmradio.com. My interest is mainly talk radio, and I went with XM. The Roady2 receiver is smaller than any of the Sirius radios, and it includes an FM transmitter, which makes it easier to move between the car, home, and office. The subscription for XM is also a little less, $9.95 ($6.95 for additional receivers).

If you live in a large city, you can receive the signal from a terrestrial repeater. I take my radio to work, and I just place the antenna on my desk. However, at home, I must place the antenna on a window sill.

By the way, don't fall for any "Sirius might go under" rhetoric. It's not going to happen. Also, plenty of new cars are being sold with Sirius radios too, not just XM. Each service has signed deals with different automakers.

That must be a new feature because I read an article about this about 1 year ago when I was investing in the two companies. Smart move on their part.

You can also listen to Sirius on Dish Network if you have that and want a sample.

I have XM and I really like it. Never heard or listened to Sirius so I can't speak for them.

Dish Network has been carrying Sirius for some time now. It has a plethora of music types. It's great when there's nothing on to watch...
