It seems that people are quickly labled "troll" around here and then castigated and banished for eternity.
I challenge you, if your cause is worthy and you are half as clever as you think you are, to no longer think of these antagonists as trolls but potential freepers.
Convert them! Reason with them. Just a little bit, maybe???
You guys yell "troll" more than a liberal cries "racist". That should tell you something.
If you are unable to convert a "troll" or two, maybe there is something substantially wrong. Maybe your not all that you're ZOTTED up to be.

What are you talking about? I have been a Freeper for years and only a couple of weeks ago I was called a troll. No banishment, no stigma, nothing likw what your opening lines suggest.
It just happens on occasion. Roll with it.

ah jeez, why all the new people coming around to tell everyone how intolerant FR members are?
If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, then it's probably a duck.
When someone new signs up and says "I've voted republican all my life, but kerry's socialized medicine plan sounds good to me", there's a good indication they might be a troll.

A "troll" is not a person, it is a post. Fishing ships with big nets are called "trawlers," and they "troll" for fish by sailing through the ocean grabbing everything that lands in their net. A "troll" post is a post designed to get responses from readers rather than provide any useful information or further the discussion in some way. No, we have no use for trolls. Say something interesting, don't just try to get our attention by acting like a geek.

No thank you. I come to FR to discuss issues with like-minded conservatives, not wrestle around in the mud with lefties. Besides, that's impractical. My experience with web forums & chat rooms where conservatives and liberals "debate" each other is that the "debate" quickly descends into one endless flame war, with name-calling quickly becoming the preferred method of, ahem, "discussing" the issues.
No thanks.

I went to "Search," looking to see if there's a "Troll" screen name used on FR. Here's what the search found: "This account has been banned or suspended."

I've been here three days and while mostly positive, I've been labelled a "troll" by two people who had ridiculous "tests" in their own mind that I didn't pass.
Just because a person disagrees with you or has a different opinion than the norm does not automatically make them a troll.

Hmmm. Nobody's ever called me a troll, just an idiot. Maybe I'm not being sufficiently provocative.
