It is happening with more regularity now, particulary in certain areas. It happened several times yesterday while driving in the West L.A./Santa Monica area.
What is happening? Being flipped off by angry drivers.
No, I didn't cut them off or tailgate them and make a lane change without a signal or slow them down in the fast lane. I did none of those.
What I did is have the audacity to have bumper stickers on my care that defend the president and mock the other side. I have coined a name for it: DWR -- Driving While Republican.
The other side, of course, is allowed to have their John Kerry stickers. We, however, are not allowed to express our opinion, especially for all the other drivers to see.
I have nine magnetic signs on my car and two taped inside, each with a single piece of tape. When I park, I usually remove all of them, including the ones on each side that say MILITARY FAMILY FOR BUSH/CHENEY. Yesterday at the Santa Monica FReep, you can bet that the signs were all of my vehicle. I didn't particularly feel like having it damaged by any of those looney leftists.
I hope some of you will join me and show your opinion in magnetic stickers. You can go to a sing shop or Staples and pick up the materials. Then, make your own signs with your computer. Let's get our side seen!
I made up a couple of the PROUD VIETNAM VET AGAINST KERRY ones for my husband to put on his Peterbilt at his request. I was afraid it would make his life out on the road more difficult; but surprisingly, so far he has got great conversation & even respect. Not a bit of trouble yet after a week driving with lots of stops along the way from Texas to NC & back to Louisiana.
I know those Bush haters are out there, but they must be luke-warm on Kerry. At least I'm hoping!!!
Come on, everyone, let's make sure our side is seen out there.
And my favorite bumper sticker:
FOUR MORE WARS!
Yup, I really don't have much doubt at all that the margin is a lot more than four to one. I was just trying to be "conservative" in my claim. :-)
A lot of damn Kerry stickers on cars around me (barf) I wnt to flip them off so bad or at least give them the thumbs down sign but have refrained. You never know how goofey people are anymore.
I've been putting "Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry" bumper stickers over Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers on parked cars. I sometimes wonder how long it takes the DUmbasses to realize it.
My bumper stickers say "Glock", "Ruger" and "NRA Life Member". No one flips me off.
They always have beards. Why is that?
The men, too.
Get a hand held sign that reads "Yes! BUSH is #1" and hold it up when they flip you off.
Come on, our side is supposed to be above that. Stop it.
While back I saw a bumper sticker which said "Kerry Lied while Good Men Died" and the back ground was a Vietnam War ribbon. Now I can't find that bumper sticker...can anyone help.
>>I think you have a sign to hold up that is a little less confrontational than mine. Mine says KISS MY *SS.
I'd love to hold a sign up like that, but I'm little, 5'2", 105 lbs or so, I'd have mine kicked instead of kissed! LOL!
We don't need to flip them off. They get to have their opinion. But they don't want us to display our opinions.
Son of a gun, you beat me to it!
Was driving to Dallas on I-45 yesterday and saw NO Bush stickers and one car with a Duke University license plate holder with two John Kerry stickers and one "Defend America...Defeat Bush" sign in his rear window. Old guy over 60. I didn't flip him off...just pointed and laughed when we passed him.
Yeah, I don't have ANY bumper stickers on my car. I just don't want to be molested while driving by anybody, so I don't tip anyone off to anything. Just a plain car. I like yard signs, cuz you can stick em by the roadside anonymously. Because I park my car at my corporate day job, as well as my musician night job, I keep it totally politics-free. Good business decision, imo. What's funny is if I put stickers on my car, I'd have GWB 04 stickers side by side with Grateful Dead stickers, which isn't normal. I don't put dead stickers because I don't want to get hassled by John law. Basically I don't trust people to be decent or rational, and so I behave accordingly.
i saw two vehicles parked together at my health club yesterday, one a tiny hyundai or daewoo, the other a 10 year old red chevy pick-up with tools in the back, and each sporting a presidential bumper sticker. as you would guess, the truck had the W sticker on it.
I'm from Zoo Jersey and I put a bumper sticker on today that says - I voted " STRAIGHT" Republican !
LOL
I was mailed two W-04 stickers on separate occasions, one graces my truck and I gave the other to a little 18 yo girl who begged for it.
Today I went to the NC GOP HQ and picked up a dozen and left them a check.
I also got some "BBB" oval stickers the same size as the W-04 ones. In small print "Bush-Burr-Ballentine", candidates in NC for President, Senator and Governor.
However, my wife spends the school year in Chicago, and she will not have a Bush sticker on her car for fear of it being vandalized.
I'd be curious as to how many people really have been flipped off, or had their cars vandalized. One example: I spend at least one evening per week at the Bush headquarters making calls, and one of the young staffers, who just graduated from UVA, told me that earlier in the spring he found his vehicle with the Bush sticker ripped off, his side mirror broken, and a Dean sticker across his windshield.
