The day sometimes known as Second Mothers Day (a.k.a First Day of School) is fast approaching. The state of Texas had sales tax free weekend. Clothing, back to school supplies, and other items under $100.00 were purchased without the 8-1/4% state sales tax. Tuesday, 10 August (tomorrow) is the first day of prison oops school, so time to get the cats oops kids ready.

MEOW --- Time to get up !!!
Cute pictures of our furry friends!
LOL! Happy Monday morning...
LOL! Good way to start the week.
LOL! We'll soon have MORE "kids" to hustle to that bus stop......a sweet little PREGNANT stray showed up last week and her litter should arrive any day.
When my beloved Tinuviel succumbed to cancer a few weeks ago, I told my hubby that we'd most likely have a "replacement" show up before summer's end but I sure didn't expect multiple! EEEEEEK!!
Oh well, at least hubby can't complain about the added food and vet bills....HE brought her inside. He's as big a sucker as I am. LOL!
Now as everyone else is waking up, it's time for me to follow Darla's lead and conk out for a bit. I'm up waaaaaaay past my bedtime!
Have a fabulous day y'all!
And bless you for saving all of those little furry lives.
I had a pregnant stray show up at my house too. She looks very much like your Darla. She is the exact same shade of grey. She had three kittens. I gave away two and am keeping one along with her. The mom who's name is Squirrel does not have a good indoor cat temperament. I am going to get her fixed and some shots and let her be outdoors. I hate to do that but she is very hyper and keeps beating up my old Siamese cat Mr. Tuck in the most merciless manner.
Yes, Darla IS a pretty lil girl, though how you could tell from that pic...... LOL! Eyes all rolled back in her head and all.
She looks a bit prettier in this shot, though she was scowling a little.
We simply can't turn away a stray, especially a half-starved pregnant one. Looks like Doc will be busy in the near future with spayings/neuterings and shots. But it's worth it to us. Cats are such wonderful lil critters. :-)
For your sake, I hope she has a small litter. :-)
Of course, we'll expect regularly updated pictures of those kittens when they come along.
We'll keep Sheba AND her babies. We haven't given away a cat yet even though people have asked for some of them. They're our "kids". We're up to 39 plus however many Sheba unloads. I believe I've felt four.
The "bus stop" pic in the opening of the thread is me "herding" some of our brood. LOL!
Some of our cats are inside only and others go in and out. Sheba has adjusted well to being inside so she'll probably remain inside. She was a little overwhelmed at first by the masses, though. LOL!
This could be YOUR house before long! ROTFL!
Tinuviel was diagnosed last summer with cancer and I honestly didn't expect her to make it more than 6 months. But she lasted 11 months before I had to make that dreaded trip to the vet to have her put to sleep. She only had 3 bad days....she went downhill over a weekend....and had 14 years of being spoiled. A part of her is still with us....we still have 3 of her offspring.
I wish I lived someplace like you and could have several cats. Maybe you can help me with a little cats problem. I live with my mom who is disabled and has trouble walking. She walks with canes. My cat Mr. Tuck is very good about staying out of her way. Since I am keeping the new kitten who will be indoors I am very worried he will trip her by accident. I am hoping he will be afraid of the canes and just stay out of the way but am not sure. Do you have any ideas how I can try to train him to avoid her while she is walking? It worries me but at the same time I want to keep the kitten because he would be good company for her and also for Mr. Tuck. I think the kitten will get him exercising which he very much needs.
This was taken her first night with us. She was half-starved when she showed up and apparently the kittens were, too.
This shot was taken 3 days later. Her belly's even larger now!
She eats everything in sight and the kittens have benefitted well......her belly has swollen up immensely! My guess is at least 4 kittens, possibly 5. Baby pics will definitely be forthcoming. :-)
Living on a farm has it's advantages for cat-lovers like us. Plenty of room for everyone. The disadvantage, for us, is that barns seem to attract folks who are out dumping their unwanted cats. "Oh look, a barn! They surely need a mouser." We haven't seen a mouse in ages now. LOL!!
As for how to train a kitten to avoid anyone's feet, I haven't a clue. Getting underfoot is a bad habit cats seem to have and I've never been able to break any of it. As many times as some of these critters have been tripped over and had their feet stepped on, they still do it.
The fact your mother walks with a cane may help. Hubby's elderly aunt lives with us and uses a cane at times. It seems to scare the cats because they never get under her feet like they do ours.
Just keep a close eye on the kitten to see how things go and hope for the best.
Mr. Tuck may or may not accept the kitten. Cats are so territorial. Some of our cats get along well with others, and the rest simply tolerate the others' presence. At least they don't have knock-down-drag-outs and that's a plus.
I love the little sleeping kitty!
That's my Tigger. She always sleeps flat on her back, with all four paws curled up. The other day she changed positions, though, and graced allowed me this priceless shot:
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! We're having chocolate cake with chocolate icing this morning, AND lemon bars! Come on over, we've killed the cake, but there are plenty of lemon bars!
Beatles - Birthday lyrics
You say it's your birthday
It's my birthday too--yeah
They say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you.
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party.
I would like you to dance--Birthday
Take a cha-cha-cha-chance-Birthday
I would like you to dance--Birthday
Dance
You say it's your birthday
Well it's my birthday too--yeah
You say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you.
