Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Whats this stuff that Fox pundits were going on about Bush's military record as opposed to Kerry's? At least Bush didnt leave the National Guard and start bashing the military for supposed mistreatments he witnessed while still in. I absolutely HATE the fact that the media is getting away with belittling the service the National Guard provides...not to mention all the reserves...like just because their service in the military has slightly more civilian set-up makes them less of an American.
I'd love to kick a lefty media.
I think Im in bit of a fiesty mood this evening.

Sigh... you know, if one could figure out how DUers think, how a brain can hold so many contradictory, stupid opinions at once, you could probably make a weapon out of it.

Probably a good idea not to ask the Dwarves on this question.
"That chest was as tight as some of the pinches Bilbo Baggins had found himself in. Maybe not as tight as the time Smaug nearly roasted him, but definitely much tighter than when he was locked in the Elf-King's palace for weeks, doomed to roam the halls invisible while his friends rotted in the dungeons."

New tagline...dunno why I didn't fix it long ago...
Told my boss this afternoon, in mystic tones: "Within seven days, I will see the City of Grand Rapids under several feet of water."
Boss: "What? Why? How? (or words to that effect)"
Me (normal voice): "The steamship City of Grand Rapids burned and sank at anchor off Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, about a hundred years ago. The wreck is visible, and I'll be seeing it on my vacation."

Kerry is such a vile POS. I actually suspect that there is something deeply wrong with him on a psychological level. He gave an anti-war speech to his graduating class at Yale, then enlists in the Navy two years later and goes to OCS. Once he sees the swift boats in the Me Cong delta he has some kind of PT109 flashback and pushes for the duty. Once in country he goes medal-hunting and gets out before he gets hurt really bad... then spends a couple of years after that trashing the sailors that he served with in order to set himself up as a national personality. It was a set-up from the beginning.
