Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Apparently it's not a connotation in wide use in every part of the country...
After my time in the military and considering the guys I work with, I figgered I'd heard 'em all! ;-)

The way I heard it was the first day at C&GSC they give you what they say is an MRI...but it really activates the Advanced Cognition Uninstaller that was uploaded at USMA and ROTC, and reformats that portion of the cortex to receive Nuanced Peer Conditioning.
Note, this has no effect on ex-enlisted who went to OCS after working/paying their own way through college.

You are not gonna believe.
Remember when I bonked my right cornea with the electric plug and took a divit out of it?
Well, I was holding Jar Jar this afternoon at 2pm and she went to jump off my lap. As she did, she flapped and hit me square in the same eye with a blunt cut-off wing feather (trimmed so she won't fly up in the trees.) Gave me a good-sized abrasion across my cornea.
I'm sitting here with my eye patched (this time...they didn't patch it last time and I had trouble, you know.) I gotta go back to the doctor in the morning to see if I can have the patch removed. Sigh...
Steve was gonna stay at school and work on his thesis, but he's gonna come home. I'm worthless.

Where's that beacon of restraint?

Yep. They are so hot they are unbearable to eat. I have no idea what we're gonna do with 'em. Dehydrate 'em and mix 'em with some jalepeno peppers to cool 'em down, I guess.

Bless your Heart! I hate it when I hurt an eye! I understand your 'worthless' comment. You feel like you just can't do anything!

Well, my right eye is my "good" eye...I see really well from it normally and it compensates for my not-so-good left eye...I have glasses that I don't normally have to wear because of my good right eye. So I'm wearing them, but still, everything seems weird.
