New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Does your town have a local cable station? Like for local events, school board, etc.? Our cable company is OWNED by the town, and it offers video production classes for kids. Once they've been through the class, they're allowed to take the cameras out and shoot their own videos, and they're shown on the local cable channel! The class is free for residents of the town, but I doubt something like that, offered by the Cable channel would be TOO expensive.
Heh...WAYNE'S WORLD! WAYNE'S WORLD! But we don't have a basement.
Actually, he has an excellent opportunity to work with the video and sound techs at church. They've been looking for camera operators for the services. And he's done it before. But that would mean he wouldn't be able to sit with his friends.
I keep telling him, there's a guy who grew up doing tech support for our productions. When he went to apply to a college program the head of the department looked at his resume and said "I can't teach you anything else here."
The opportunities are there. He just has to focus.
Driving is probably better. Most of the airline companies only allow you 11 pounds of ammo with your guns!
Question for ya (WN, where arrrrrre you??)
From the looks of things, frost will be coming EARLY this year. We're already getting temps in the low forties in the mornings.
Sooo...I'd like to gather in some of my herbs so's I can use them over the winter, but I have no idea how to do this. How do you usually dry things / preserve them?
WNeighbor, please pick up the white courtesy phone.

I really hope everything is OK. Been a loooooong time since she posted.
I had freepmail from her last week. It's been a hectic summer, but she seems to be doin' okay.
I forget when she said her school started back. We should see more of her then.
Yay! We identified the virus!
It's a new Korgo variant.
I have a name for the enemy.
Actually, only a very few systems were unprotected, so I had just one more system to patch today. I can live with that.
Note that with Joshua there is another little chair beside him...that is where I sit and we go over the lessons together.
Joshua finishes school much earlier than Matthew. He wanted something to do, so I set him to washing the "plastic stuff" that doesn't do well in the dishwasher. He did a great job and it gave me time to work with Matthew on his spelling!
(Had to change his shirt...he got some lunch on the blue one.)
When I grew herbs in NJ, I cut them to have a long stem, then hung them upside down in my kitchen to dry. They smelled wonderful, then when they were good and dry, I crushed them slightly and put them into bags. You have to make sure they're COMPLETELY dry before you do that, or they'll mold. Ick!
(Think Steve's a bit tickled?)
Some pints of sauce with a habenero pepper.
"Sounds like you guys caught what I had...
Wait, how does that work?"
I guess you must've accidentally posted a virus. . . :)
DOH! I forgot about your Church productions. Any chance Jr. can talk one of his friends into working WITH him on the productions. Then he wouldn't feel so all alone.
Sorry to hear the bad news on the football.
ALL the boys look proud, and dang, Steve is looking great!
LOL! I guess I need either that or that stuff the Orcs made Merry and Pippin drink :)
He's done some lighting work at VBS and other smaller stuff. For the Christmas production he likes to be in the cast with the youth choir.
Wife took him to the mall for lunch today. He's already talking about other stuff he wants to do. Drum lessons, guitar lessons (one pair of cleats woulda paid for a month of lessons ~sigh~).
I hope to encourage him tho to work some on the setup prior to performance. He can work with them to hang lights, etc. He's got a couple of friends who already do that.
I'm figuring that's probably about what I'll do, though I'm not sure how it'll work for things like sage. It just doesn't HAVE a long stem. And how did you hang 'em? Tied them to something?
It worked in Independence Day.
