The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm post #4 on that thread! Reg is truly a gem!

He really did the Goron in with the classic Sore Loserman signs. *snickering*

I'm so upset over the loss of my Palm Beach freeping pics. I lost everything in my hard drive at one point and all of my freeping pics were in there. *sob*

Ahh, Miss Ruth, that's dreadful! I take it no freeper friends have copies? (My home computer died some time ago, but fortunately I had nothing of emotional value on it. One of these days if I feel wealthy enough I'll get a new one. Meanwhile, no more freeping from home, just from the bloody office).

Alas! I double-checked via Google to see if any of the old threads had viable pics left on them, but there was nothing but red Xes as far as the eye could see.

I should try FReepmailing some of those folks to see if they still have copies, but it seems like such a trivial thing to pester them for.

"Hi so and so, we haven't talked in months but I was wondering if you have any pictures of ME! Can you send them to ME? Cuz you know, it's all about ME!"

*yuck* Not my style.

I think your pals know you better than that. Try them anyway, very politely, natch, explaining what happened and that Bill Gates isn't likely to help you, and I'm sure they'll be pleased as punch to help (not that I'm accusing any of them of being Hubert Humphrey, you understand...)

I know I should. If the show were on the other foot, I wouldn't hesitate to share old Freepin pics.

Absolutely. So would most of the freepers I know. Go get 'em, Ruthie!

"The Rolling Stones" is light and humorous, which is why I suggested it. In tone it's miles from "The Moon...".

OK, maybe I'll look it up eventually. It isn't available from the college system, but might be from the local library system. I'm just not convinced I'll ever find Heinlein books that I like.

Well, that was a total waste of a day. Never did figure out a name for whatever it is that's causing virus symptoms, but I think I managed to fix a few systems. Maybe. And I didn't really get a lunch break, so I didn't have to worry about reading material...I just scarfed my soup as fast as I could and sort of caught up on e-mail.

At least I get to watch a movie tonight, albeit one that's probably pretty mindless.

You're right, I'm packing for my business trip tomorrow and rehearsing my briefing. I did read the thread, tho. Congrats to ya!! I'll probably get serious about good food after I get back from the trip. Stressful times like these demand "stress chocolate". *sigh* At least the suit I bought is the smaller of the two sizes I bounce back and forth between.

Woo Hoo, when to we get to see it? Does the store at which you bought it have an online catalog where it's shown?

Thanks. If you only knew how ironic that is. The audience is going to be somewhat hostile. I know my stuff, but I'm nervous nonetheless.

Hi All!

Back from vacation. :(

The storm that we had to fly around coming out of Chicago is here now. Kitty is purring away so I guess she's happy and I have a bunch of grotty beach laundry to do.

In the Land of the Lieberals I saw only one "Kerry/ Edwards" sign and no Bush signs (well, what did you expect?)

All we did was go to the beach and hike a lot. My cousin is on this fitness thing too (no meat, BTW) and we walked 5 miles each day. I didn't get sore, but the sisters did...hehehe.

Gots laundry to do!

Hey, have you ended up on any rat mailing lists? I've gotten mail from Hitlery, sKerry and Da$$hole. I'm thinkin' the only place that might have been a connection (to sell my name and address) might be Heifer Intl.

It's a Kasper suit, and it's not shown online anywhere. It's just your average pantsuit. It's a nice cut that emphasizes a waist and minimizes hips. The fabric is a nice soft sage- a shade dustier than an Army class B uniform shirt. All in all, it's probably too dressy. I'll have to do something with my hair. (grrr.) I would have preferred red. But the only good red suit I found didn't come in petites.
