The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Why does it always have to be about you?

You think it'd be more interesting if it was about you? We can try that!

Oh, not really. It's raining here too...

It's not raining here. I'm having a glass of wine. I need to run the dishwasher.

Guess it would not be more interesting if it were all about me.

I used "you just stuned my beeber" meaning "what you just said I find very surprising" in oral face-to-face conversation last week!

LOL!

I've used vey, series and hugh in normal conversation before, and gotten funny looks...but of ALL the FReeperisms you coulda used....

Heh...yeah, that'd get some odd looks.

"It's not raining here. I'm having a glass of wine."

I'm having a wine cooler with a mushroom-garlic-spinach pizza--mmm. . .

My evening isn't exactly exciting either. I'm listening to Gillian Welch (doubt anyone here knows who I mean), I read more of the book (which is vey enjoyable), I'm wanting chocolate badly even though I already had some, and I may eventually do something REALLY exciting, like read another chapter or watch one more episode.

Don't stop with Landry. Clone Staubach. And Michael Irvin --- preferably a drug-free version. And Drew Pearson. And on and on.

Glad you're liking the book!

I'm torn between telling you to read more and telling you to watch anime. (Ned is so endearing, but FMA has visuals... ooh... and you'll be getting to the new opening soon which is vey cool. Has several great "Huh? That was English?" words mixed in. Then again, so does "Undo", the third opener - did you know that?)

I'm going to shower and then start my movie.

("Butthead" voice) "Hey, baby...want me to stune your beeber?"

Wow, you're right. That sounds vey seriesly dirty, and unfir to boot.

I'm listening to Gillian Welch

Soggy Bottom Customer: Do you have the Soggy Bottom Boys performing "Man of Constant Sorrow"?

Record Store Clerk: No ma'am. We got a new shipment in yesterday. Sorry, but we just can't keep 'em on our shelves.

Yep, that'd be her!

Speaking of which...today I finally reclaimed my copy of O Brother from Dad. I'll be re-watchin' that sometime in the next few days...

And Tony Dorsett--and Too-Tall Jones. . .First Super Bowl I ever watched was the Cowboys-Steelers in #XIII. They don't make 'em like that anymore!

Doh! I missed it :( Halftime is over, I'm back on the game now. I hope they're rerunning the movie later--they usually show stuff twice on AMC.

It's "Sabrina", with Harrison Ford (another oldie but cutie!)

I saw half of it one time and have always meant to see the other half - plus I've seen the original and want to compare. Thought tonight was a good excuse.

Picked your pastime yet?
