The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh Mr. Professional Engineer, maybe you could do something with an idea I had while listening to a radio report on adaptive cruise controls for automobiles: a possible solution to a problem they reported. Interested?

Well, there is. And there are some other Reformed churches to. I've just been really, really spoiled in the last two and a half years with a church that has a liturgical style I've come to love; and more importantly the best preaching I've ever sat under. I'm used to going into church and listening to a sermon that educates, illuminates, makes me aware of my sinfulness and miserableness and convinces me that God loves me anyway - every single week. That will be hard to do without.

I guess I just need guidance to find the "right" church, regardless of label.

Back later. Ramius, do you want to go to the JimRobMoot on Sunday? I'll call ya later or tomorrow. Libertina wants RSVPs and I already sent her a 'probably' a couple weeks ago.

Officially, I think the one we have the most *blood* ties with would be MacGregor...but I have no idea what that tartan looks like.

Hope the new job goes well and the freelance gigs keep coming in. I'm curious, how do you go about attracting clients for that? I've helped a few friends write the text for their websites and I'm thinking that might be a good way to earn some extra money if I learned more about the html side of it (what I know right now is business writing; I know html basics but I need to learn some of the "fancy" stuff).

Got word today that the book I've been editing will probably go to press Monday, which was nice to hear.

My Dad just sent me this email:

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!

If you support George W. Bush, please drive with your headlights on during the day on Friday.

If you support John Kerry, please drive with your headlights off Friday night.

BWAHAHAHAHAHHAAA! How delightfully wicked is THAT!? LOL!

Ramius, do you remember the name of the stapler guy in Office Space? Milton, something like that? Well, I swear he was in line ahead of me at the DMV today. This guy looked exactly like him - and then he opened his mouth and the voice was the same, too.

The DMV exists to remind one that one's job is really not as bad as some of the alternatives. Or maybe that there really is a Hell.

Hi Fedora!

Yes, at long last, the kitchen is completed. We also had the AC ducts professionally cleaned and had the bathtub resurfaced. WHEW!!

We had the shower glass doors taken down and put up the shower curtain tonight. I'm sooooo ready to quit doing home improvements!
