Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
good morning everyone! checking in... Had my coffee this morning, now on my second cup. bittygirl is fed and down for morning nap, elf-boy is watching the wiggles on disney.
Yesterday elf-boy broke my mother's snowglobe, he is still somewhat distraught over it. He really liked it, and mother said she would let him have it since he thought it was so special. He was trying to move it so it *wouldn't* break, and it broke. Last night he told me he wants to get gremma another snowglobe for her birthday. ~sigh~ He was so precious, I almost cried.
I gave her the snowglobe when she came to visit me in Monterey while I was stationed there.
Morning!
Getting ready to make a second cup of coffee. Trip should be fun. Don't quite know what's on the agenda for the Cape besides eating and drinking coffee. I'd just as soon hang around the cabin and visit the whole time. The Marconi Station is cool though...and the whaling museums.
Seems to me I saw snowglobe kits in a Michael's once. As long as the inner decoration is intact, should be relatively easy fix, and maybe even a fun project for the two of you...
...the world's biggest joint!"
Origin: another 'Lympic thread.
The Iraqi and American delegations at the opening ceremony.
That would be cool if we can pull it off.
I have been searching this morning for a replacement, but to no avail.
It was a city-scape of San Francisco (and is completely in tact) and plays "I left my heart in San Francisco". The actual globe was the part that broke into a million pieces.
OT: whaling museum? Scrimshaw! Kewl. Was at Mystic CN many years ago, really enjoyed it. Labstahs and steamahs, Guiness and the Ocean. Seems like all the bases are covered.

Red, white and blue ties!
One of several links (I Googled "snow globe kit")
I imagine the glass, sealant, and "snow" might be all you need.
[/stickin' my nose in]
Hmm, I think I 'll hafta forego trying to fix it. Just found out that the base went in the trash, which has already been picked up.
On the other hand, I found a website that shows how to make a snoglobe from babyfood jars!
There's also a nice little aquarium, and any number of other museums.
Back from the farmer's market! I spent all I had, as usual. Didn't have enough for blueberries. *snif*
But I DID get fresh cucumber, some wonderful looking onions (BIG bunch), cilantro (gonna make salsa this evening), a small eggplant to do parmesan style, and a spaghetti squash. I made spaghetti squash last week...hopefully I don't get burned out on it! Last week I just did it with a normal spaghetti sauce...this week I'm not sure what I'll try.
Though I do like the historical parts of Boston! And I still want to go to the science museum again. Haven't been in over ten years. And it's a nice one, for them that likes such things. I do!
Yeah, that's where we went the last time. The whole ordeal of "going into town" kinda makes you think twice on whether the trip is worth it. Can't imagine having to do that commute 5 days a week!
Been a long, long time since we went to the Science museum. Family Lore has it that Grampa's Model T is in there. We went to see the USS Constitution on the same trip. We took two cars and one of them had a flat on the way in. Fun trip. :)
No kidding...
I used to fly into Logan Airport when I came back on visits from Germany. To get to it you only SORT of have to go through Boston...but even that was enough that Dad said he'd pay for me to take a bus up to Vermont or the difference in my ticket to another airport just so he'd never have to deal with Boston traffic again. He hasn't driven there in quite a few years, and if he has his way, never will again.
Heh. Dad used to say that he felt like he'd just flown a combat mission and was happy to get out of that place with no dinged fenders.
Anyway, I'm flying into Providence...my freebie Southwest ticket won't take me to Logan. Lucky, isn't it? :)
Coming home anytime soon?
