The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I just noticed it in my bookcase, don't know where it came from, maybe I'll try it, as the Amber things were pretty nice. Thanks for the review.

We got lucky, very little weather from the thing, hopefully it won't be a problem for Corin. Looks like a possibility for more problems next week here, though.

'night Sam.

Does anyone know why I'm still up?

Tropical depression #4 is now Tropical Storm Danielle...

Charley is heading our way now. They expect it to hit the South Carolina coast later on today. We'll see what happens. I'm still thinking just a lot of rain.

g'nite (or a vey early g'mornin)

Good morning! Happy weekend!

Got two hours to kill before the farmer's market opens. Guess I'll make some sort of breakfast and read. I'm working through The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, but once again, I just don't think Heinlein's my thing. I'm going to finish it, but probably won't read any of his other books for awhile.

Guess if there are going to be lots and lots of details, I prefer that they be about, say, what they're having for dinner rather than a complicated description of a revolutionary organization structure. Give me everyday details!

I make a lousy geek, I'm afraid.

You heading up my way next week?

Yep. I'm flying to Providence on Wednesday and meeting the sisters at relative's house. Then we're going to the Cape on Thursday for the weekend before flying back on Monday.....I've got only 5 vacation days left and I want to save one for the holidays.

I got tons of errands to run, but nothing opens until after nine, so I've been here fidgiting for two hours.

Did have a very nice crepe sort of thing for breakfast, though...make a sort of open omelet (just let it set without folding), spread it with sweetened cream cheese and cinnemon, rolled that up, and then put cooked blueberries over the whole thing. The blueberries got all syrupy and were just dandy. Vey tasty.

Now I gotta get more blueberries at the farmer's market...they have the BEST!

Morning! Just finished Between Planets. I should get in the habit of reading again.

I'm just finishing my first cup of coffee and trying to decide what to fix for breakfast. :)

Morning ALL. Sat AM so long walk, went past the farmer's market, the red-hat gals were also having a 'flea market'.
OT: sounds like a great trip, have fun.
