Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

And the Gold in Spamming goes to Bear! :)
Today I read a reprint of the 1969 issue of "Avengers" where they fight the JLA spoof "The Squadron Sinister": Superman=Hyperion, Batman=Nighthawk, Flash=Whizzer, Green Lantern=Dr. Prism. Thor fights Hyperion, Captain America fights Nighthawk, Giantman fights Whizzer, and Iron Man fights Dr. Prism. They must've had some fun writing that one! Wow, I didn't realize how good a comic "Avengers" was back then. The art couldn't get any better with the Buscemas and Neal Adams and Tom Palmer inking, and the stories were pretty well-written, too.
To: Ramius
Ramius; now that was a nice touch.

Have a good night, Lil'freeper!

The Avengers ran up against the Squadron several times... I have an issue from the early/mid-70s featuring them.
Did you ever see the Squadron Supreme limited series/graphic novel?

You'd better spend some more time learning from the masters, Fedora, your spam attempts often fall just short...
I'm wondering how often someone's managed to beat Bear for spam, anyway.

A dialup connection is a severe limitation when it comes to spamming...
I got beat often, back when our connection was dialup!

I think this was their first appearance, and they got changed to Squadron "Supreme" instead of "Sinister" later, or perhaps more precisely a second "good" version was introduced. Wasn't the good version from Counter-Earth or something like that? I've seen the limited series/graphic novel but not read it. Any good?
Ah, they just mentioned Nadia Comaneci when the Romanian gymnasts came out--I had such a crush on her when I was little :)
To: g'nad
G'nad; that is a great looking fan, actually about the best I've seen. Very well done. Nice beard. Going to get another this fall, I'll bet.

Well, I have a good excuse because I have dial-up :) I don't expect to be able to keep up with Bear in spamming anyway--if I can get the Silver or Bronze I'll be content!
How's writing the new story coming?

Oh, ping to the previous post...

Bear; that's a great site, never heard of it before.

In research phase. Trying a short sketch to get a grip on The Hero at the beginning of the adventure.
