The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Mom taught me to sew. Dad taught me the "I'm going to work hard enough not to have to do something that boring" ethic. (In his case, it was lawn mowing, not sewing).

It suddenly occurs to me that the second storm should have been named "Clyde" rather than "Charlie".

I feel bad because I think I let my mom's sewing machine go to waste. It was a nice one, and they are so expensive. I kept it, thinking maybe I'd learn to sew... and it reminded me of my mom looking through the drawers of thread and scraps she had in the drawers. Well, it sat around 5-6 years and I finally gave it to a friend. She has had a bugger of a time getting it to work, taken it to a repairman a few times, apparently they can't be allowed to just sit, the lubricants are all sealed inside, and they just gum up from disuse. I don't know if it will ever be happy again.

Don't feel bad about it, chica. The truth of the matter is you prolly kept the machine for its sentimental value more than an actual desire to sew your own blouses.

I think the quilt you have on your wall is more than a fair replacement! And you can actually appreciate it every day!

So what's it look like out at job A? Is it going to be OK or is it some kind of living hell? Or somewhere in between like most jobs?? :-)

Yeah - I checked it out.... It's the same game. and the free web version maxes out after 4. ecurbh and I mastered that one long ago :~D and still play it for somethin' to do. The downloadable one was really cool, but it only lets ya play an hour without paying for it ;~\

Well... somewhere in the middle I guess. It's help desk call center, which I've already been burned out on once before. But it's an easy product to support (Washington Mutual Online Banking), and the folks there seem pretty nice. And it's waaaaay out in the middle of nowhere, but there's no rush hour traffic to deal with.

And at least it's only temp position to start with, so it'll be easier to say goodbye if I can't take it.

Gotta remember to take the camera with me and get some pics of the site... pretty unique location to work at!

And it's money, right? That's something...

How about your coworkers? I'm so glad I've got nice geeky guys (who are slightly, er, impressed by my female-ness). Wouldn't like to work with nasty people if I could help it.
