What is this thread about?
What is this thread about? they ask,
We seldom give a clue.
This thread can be so many things,
Well at least a few.
It is about what we're about,
Sometimes a little more.
The windows are kept open here,
And we don't lock the door.
So come on in and read it all,
We're sure that when you're done.
You'll cast your vote to make this thread,
The all time number one.

The Pursuit Of Happiness
Read: Psalm 34
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8
Bible In One Year: Psalms 40-42; Acts 27:1-26
In 1948, Life magazine brought together a group of labor-union representatives, industrial leaders, university scholars, and clergy to discuss what the framers of the United States Constitution had in mind when they referred tothe pursuit of happiness. They agreed that steady work under good conditions at a living wage was absolutely essential. Some included the values of racial fairness, unselfishness, and integrity.
This led one participant, a brilliant young woman who had been crippled by polio, to say,It is my experience that suffering and pain are, unfortunately, great character buildersnot that suffering is good in itself, but because it often helps to shift our expectation of happiness from without to a search for it from within. True, but we can find inner happiness only by knowing God personally and walking the path of trust and obedience.
Happiness isnt found by pursuing it. Its a by-product of seeking an ever-closer walk with God. When we do, we will find a depth of happiness no person or thing can give. Thats what David referred to when he said,Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man who trusts in Him! (Psalm 34:8). Herb Vander Lugt
Happiness is never found
When happiness is sought;
Its found instead in Jesus
And what His blood has bought. D. De Haan
To know happiness, know God.

I've made the trip dozens of times. My wife has family there.
We got to see most of them and had a good time. Usually, we don't have quite this much time available to relax and unwind.
The teens and I were suffering internet withdrawal, but the laid-back pace of a small town is a balm to the Spirit.
Now I have to catch up on messages, and pry the logs apart from my creative enterprizes...

Attack of the Tabby Cat
Slyly crept the cat
Through the damp, green grass
To the big, black hole
Of the big, grey rat
The weather was fair
The sky was blue
As overhead
The robin flew
The robin flew
To warn the rat
Of the attack
Of the tabby cat
The rat, he shrieked
When he heard the news
For the battle; he knew
He would surely lose
The cat, he chuckled
With a grin
For the battle; he thought
He would surely win
The rat was brave
Despite his fears
But the thought of the cat
Nearly brought him to tears
The cat quickly walked
Through the cluttered backyard
He pounced from the woodpile
And landed quite hard
On the cold, wet cement
Beside the rats hole
A sharp glance at his enemy
The rat quickly stole
Though he was frightened
The rat was still brave
But he was certain the cat
Would bring him to his grave
The rat boldly crept
To the front of his hole
And they started the battle
On the green, grassy knoll
The rat was too nervous
The cat was too quick
And the cat, he did win
With one final kick
The cat picked him up
With victory in his eyes
And on the front step
He laid down his prize

Man's Best Friend by Jessica M. (Age: 11)

Everyone knows,
that a dog is a man's best friend,
they stick together
until the end.
All different dogs
and all different breeds,
from dogs who catch sticks
to dogs who chase cats into trees.
Types that are handy,
like a nice labrador
or be one who does tricks
like to roll over and more.
Dogs are the best,
I don't care if they're bad,
Dogs are dogs,
and they're the best pet I've ever had!

Americans With Disabilities Day

Aunt And Uncle's Day
Avuncular is a clumsy word, to describe a lovely love,
That of an aunt or uncle for a brother, children of.
Or children of your sister, in-law or brother-in-law.
Heck, why draw the line? With kids I stand in awe!
They are the very essence, of what love is about.
The rest of us just whisper it, they have the nerve to shout!
A child is not afraid to love, I guess theyre closer to,
The source of love for all of us, that Heaven sends to you.
If youre an aunt or uncle, give your nephew or your niece,
A bit of love from Uncle Bob, make sure they get a piece.
I dont mind sending out a lot, it comes back multiplied.
Ive gotten more back than I sent, each time that it was tried.
