The Patriot
His brother died that day in Pearl,
The sneak attack took place.
He lost a cousin on D-Day,
He still can see his face.
The fight was tough and many died,
But freedom they would save.
He fought the Nazis gallantly,
He was more scared than brave.
But he and others pressed the fight,
And soon prevail they did.
He came back home to tickertape,
Back home to wife and kid.
He raised his family, they raised theirs,
Now all have moved away.
His wife passed several years ago.
He misses her each day.
Whats happened to the land he loves,
The one he fought hard for.
He cant go out for walks at night,
He has to lock his door.
He stays at home and reads a bit,
At least his dog still cares.
The young folks drive by in their cars,
Their music loud, their stares.
He flies Old Glory everyday,
He takes her in at night.
He sometimes wishes that he knew,
Just what could make it right.
Ill tell you now we owe this man,
Much more than we can pay.
Lets take our country back for him,
We need to start today.
Right now our troops are overseas,
Like he was long ago.
When they come home, home must be here,
The home we used to know.
Turn off the TV, get outside,
Go shake your neighbors hand.
Vote out the leftist liberals,
Get loud and take a stand.
America, is ours to save,
From outside and within.
Lets keep her strong and keep her great,
So home shell be again.

Dying Daily
Read: 2 Corinthians 4:7-12
We are hard-pressed on every side, . . . always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus. 2 Corinthians 4:8,10
Bible In One Year: Psalms 33-34; Acts 24
Are you in a situation where you are often misunderstood for your faith in Christ? Are you surrounded by people with a carping, critical spirit? Do you get little or no credit for the work you do in your church or for your family?
The proper response is a willingness to have a humble and submissive spiritto die as Jesus did throughout His life. Yes, our Lord died once on the cross; but in another sense He also died every day. The cross was the culmination of an entire lifetime of dying. He was willing to be misunderstood and maligned, to give up home and comforts, to take the role of a servant. That was Hisdeath. We must be willing to die in that way as well.
When we die with Him, Gods gift to us isthe life of Jesus(2 Corinthians 4:10), the most attractive life ever lived. His beauty will gradually grow in us and become our beauty as well.
Remember this saying:A picture is worth a thousand words. The portrait you draw of Jesus with your humble, tranquil presence in the face of grievous wrong is worth many words on the subject. Some may see the life of Jesus revealed in you and long to enter into that life. Thats how dying daily can help bring life to another. David Roper
Dear Jesus, take my heart and hand,
And grant me this, I pray:
That I through Your sweet love may grow
More like You day by day. Garrison
Living daily for Christ requires dying daily to self.

Invisible Soldier
You can tell her by the twinkle in her eye,
At parades when the flag marches by.
She served our country and she served it very well.
Some have even served a tour or two in Hell.
She suffered hardship and never ceased to care.
It gave us strength just to know that she was there.
She was a leader, you could tell by the rank she wore,
But she became the invisible soldier after the war.
She can march, she can fly, and she can sail.
She proved that bravery isn't exclusive of the male.
She did every job she was asked and more,
But she became the invisible soldier after the war.
Now, it is finally time to right a wrong.
Honor our sister soldier; hear her song.
It's very clear that she's a patriot to the core.
Don't let her be the invisible soldier anymore.

Remember to Salute
A thousand flags are held by men,
A thousand stories of back when,
The warriors clashed neath battered rag.
On closer view, it was their flag.
The flag stood always at the front,
When battle came, it took the brunt,
And though the bullets rent and tore,
The flag would never shirk from war.
Every flag, and every color,
Holds a meaning, all of valor.
Men who stand in salutation,
Are the fabric of our nation.
And the flag that fills their eyes,
Along with tears that might arise,
Show the heart that forges on,
Til the victory has been won.
Stand and honor passing glory,
Remember well the honored story.
The flag deserves salute and then,
Remember to salute the men.

MY DAD'S A SECRET AGENT
My dad's a secret agent.
He's an undercover spy.
He's the world's best detective.
He's the perfect private eye.
He's a Pinkerton, a gumshoe,
He's a snoop and he's a sleuth.
He's unrivaled at detecting
and uncovering the truth.
He's got eyesight like an eagle.
He's got hearing like a bat.
He can out-smell any bloodhound.
He's as stealthy as a cat.
He can locate nearly anything
with elementary ease.
But no matter how he looks and looks
my dad can't find his keys!

Good morning, Amy. Thank you for the ping...
I lurk more than I post these days but this picture of the elderly man, labrador and flag stopped me in my tracks. The poem brought tears to my eyes. Truly lovely.
Have a sweet day...
