No decent public transportation. Stinking high taxes of all sorts, especially property taxes. High cost of living. Exorbitant utility rates. Government gives monopolies to certain companies (Cablevision, Lilco, etc), thereby preventing competition and lower prices. Need a car to go everywhere and anywhere (which is not a bad thing in itself, a car is quite convenient, but the costs of gas, insurance and occasional repairs are killing me).
Bank account is always empty, and the costs of living here prevent me from getting ahead, saving some money, and replensishing my account. Just when I think I have managed to save a few dollars, along comes another expense that empties it out. Car breaks down, car insurance is due, utility bills are due, etc.
It's not easy being poor in many other states, but in Long Island it's much worse in comparison. It's easier to be poor in say North Carolina than it is here.
All defenders of Long Island, I dont want to hear it: "But, but but Long Island has nice beaches, and and and lots of things to do! Nightclubs, shopping malls, parks, the Hamptons, etc." Blow it out your (expletive deleted), LI defenders. I don't want to hear it. Face it, it SUCKS here and it's getting worse, as if that were still possible.
I can't wait to escape from this fiscal hellhole (I got 5-10 years more on my "sentence" before I can move). If Long Island were a person instead of a geographical location, I'd like to bitchslap it for being the bloodsucking parasite that it is.

Thanks for thinking of me! ;D
LOL!
I can always depend on you!
It's 11:15 there.... I know why I am up (for the Football game). You too?
I always hated how late I had to wait for the game when I was in Pennsylvania. I am in CDT now, but only for a short while.
Still seems late to me, but at least I can get my work done and watch the game.
Depend on me for what???
I just got home a while ago and am just catching up on all the news, so no football right now. Then again, I'm not terribly interested if the Dolphins ain't in it.
Depend on you for humor.
There is a New York Dolphins team??? ;)
Well, since many people consider Miami to be the Sixth Borough of NYC, perhaps they really are the NY Dolphins. :)
If another hurricane hits FLA I think everyone there will migrate to NY anyway. It will be the Bronx Dolphins.
Nah, send 'em to Brooklyn -- that borough hasn't been the same since the Dodgers left!
Looong memory there, eh? (1959)
Before my time, but I think it was a few years prior to '59.
No, they moved in 1959.
You sure? I'd call my dad to ask him, but he's asleep...
Whoops
1957
I correct myself
Yep, sounds more like it.
Thanks!
Go Lions!!!!!
I was trying to aggrandize my year of birth. I always thought the Dodgers moved in 1959 -- I think they started playing at Chavez Ravine in 1959.
Uh, I don't think so!
Could be -- that was all before my time! :D
