The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

What? Switch in the middle of a movie?

Another one bites the dust.

Oh, yes, another favorite!

My favorite Peter Lorre movie...

Unfortunately, they let this Bogart character bogart the best scenes...oh, wait...

I think you're ahead of me--looks like they're just leaving Havana.

"Unfortunately, they let this Bogart character bogart the best scenes...oh, wait..."

LOL! Yeah, Lorre is great in there, too. "Please place your hands over your head. . ." Bogart: "Not again!"--ROFL!

I think my other favorite of Lorre's is "M".

Corin, if you choose to get Master And Commander, let me recommend one of the "'splaining" reference books. Unless you're familiar with drowned baby, spotted dog, and soused pig face, or the desirability of the weather-gage, or the various sails, you might want to pick up A Sea of Words, Third Edition: A Lexicon and Companion to the Complete Seafaring Tales of Patrick O'Brian, by Dean King.

It helps!

Killick! Figgy-dowdy!

"A spotted dog or a drowned baby is a hollow mockery, a whited sepulchre, without it is made with suet. There is an art in puddings, to be sure; but what is art without suet?"

Hmm, so you can quote O'Brien? Or did you look that up?

Ugh, I'm really going to bed now. And not getting up until I want to. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in tonight.

I'm at this part where Michael and his wife are talking in Italian subtitles in the dark.
