The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

But slightly long can be vey nice. Like...I liked Gerard Butler's hair in Timeline VEY much.

The accent didn't hurt neither, of course...

You knew I couldn't resist inserting my own version of nice hair?

Is that movie worth seeing otherwise?

I don't know, I haven't seen it yet. I'm not sure I could take the changes from the story I grew up with.

I was looking at the official movie site and the descriptions of the knights didn't sound like the knights I remembered.

As the article indicates, smoking can be bad for one's health!

They really get ya on those teachers editions. Everything else is reasonably priced, though.

Mmm, I was a little concerned about that movie too. I think I need to read those books again.

Yeah...they are big books though...like college type textbooks. The student stuff is what they use to write in...worksheets and such.

Some of the knights are geniune. One is, I think, totally made up, and Tristram isn't usually associated with Arthur, though he sometimes is. The others - Bors, Gawaine, and Galahad - are as close to cannonical as you get in Arthurian legends.

Of course, if you grow up on Thomas Mallory, or T.H. White, the story won't be the one you know at all.

That's what it is then.

I'll probably see it when it comes out on video and I'll try to enjoy it as just a good action/adventure film.

See, I've read the Mallory/White versions, and I've read the semi-historical versions too, and I like the semihistoricals much better. I never liked "The Once and Future King". And I really never liked Lancelot. When I discovered he was a French invention, I knew why!
