The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Don't look above that one, Miss Rosie, or you'll be REALLY sorry!

Jack used to have anxiety problems that upset his stomach mightily. I thought that was really gross till he ate the disposable razor (not the gross part yet). The vet and asssistants tried to get him up on the x-ray table to see what the razor was up to. Well, Jack got upset and let loose from both ends. Projectile even. The vet was dripping and roared, "Your dog just had a $H!# fit!!!"

I was mortified.

It was many months before I could laugh about it. She's sooooo frigid and mean (to us two-legged creatures). She definately had it coming. ;)

LOL! I have seen such $h!@ fits! And some people only know about the emotional, figurative kind!

It was an education for me, that was certain!

Jack has calmed down quite a bit. For a while, there, they'd be waiting at the clinic door with a sedative for him. Poor dufuss.

You know.... I hear that cattle dogs are typically pretty high-drive high-energy high-anxiety kind of dogs, and I've seen them in frisbee competitions and such, and yet, my only experience with them was a friend's, and hers was the slowest, dopiest, most inattentive dog. She was trying to show him in obedience and he just dragged himself through it. I wonder if he didn't have a thyroid problem or anemia or other illness that made him so down.

Jack is pretty lazy. Likes to nap all day on top of the A/C vent. He'll play frisbee for two or three tosses. He lives for scooby snacks and following Big'ol around. His only real exercise happens when Big'ol decides to walk quickly. ;)

Sadie on the other hand is a cattle perfect dog. She's 10 (almost 11!) and runs circles around Jack. She herds tennis balls all day and loves it if you throw or kick them. She's making a dog-liker out of me.

Yesss!

We're gonna watch The Butterfly Effect first (brothers haven't seen it and want to), and then I should be able to watch a few episodes, on the computer if nothing else.

Woo-hoo!

Pop a disk in and make sure it plays properly, so if it doesn't I can help you find the codec.

Try to watch at least through episode 3 or 4, that's where you really start to understand things.

I like the labels...very cute. Of course, right now they mean nothing to me, but they're still a nice touch!

Um, yeah, and I was sick so it seemed like a valuable use of my time.

They'll mean things soon enough! I like the label for the last disk best.

Hi everyone!

Finally got out of the office and called home to discover that the kitchen has finally been tore out. The mold problem is AT LONG LAST being resolved!

My mom and I bought the sink, range hood and dishwasher yesterday, along with some cute, handpainted tiles and tile mural to go on the backsplash. We're also have the false ceiling torn down so we can be rid of the long florescent bulbs and plastic ceiling tiles. My mom bought some overhead lamps for the kitchen today.

Tomorrow, the kitchen guys are supposed to start installing the new cabinets and then Wednesday the countertops come in and the applicances re-installed. Whew!

So, in the meantime, we have to live in a construction zone...which is ZERO fun with kids around. Even without kids it's a PITA, but having a 2 year old makes it a hair-raising experience.

My ex picked up the kids to get them out of the house for the day, so I'm here at his mom's (using the lovely DSL line)and will be heading out shortly to get them home and bathed.

Hi! Bay continues to be just fine by appearances, but I am beat.

It'll sure be nice to have a new kitchen! - Heck... after living in this place for awhile, it would be nice to have a kitchen that doesn't feel like a 70's era camper.
