Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
*yawn* g'mornin folks...havin' my caffeine treatments and then gonna get back to the paint mines...hope to finish the actual paint process by noon-ish.
Suzi - a wonderful story, both the sharing and laughter and the quilt. Your mama would be proud of the young'uns she raised. (and I'm sure she was)
You need to get well before your trip!
Man...that's really coming right up, isn't it? Hope you get internet access quickly. We'll miss ya!
Yeah, I'm hoping to get it in within days of moving in. If not I'll find some nice little coffeeshop with free wireless access and at least stop in now and then.
Heh...we have no such shops here, so that's hard for me to picture. But they're common in other places, no?
Wanna come paint my place next?
Well, common in Fort Collins, at the least, which is what matters to me.
I'm getting antsy. I need my books!
That's not even funny.
There's always the library...
Though it's not the same as having stacks of 'em around, I'll grant you that.
Our library's really pathetic. Besides, it's really more the ability to read any of my books, rather than a desire to read one in particular, that's getting to me. If that makes any sense.
Hey, you might get cookies today!
Good morning everyone! Gotta get the jedis up in a bit for their third (and last) VBS of the summer...at my mom's church. I'm enjoying a nice cup of coffee. Real coffee. I decided I wanted my real coffee back, sorry Dr. Atkins.
But I only have the one cup. I pour the bottled water into the teapot, heat it up, pour 300ml into a measuring cup with a tablespoon of my delicious Aldis coffee and let is steep a few minutes, then I pour it through a tea filter. Add a packet of splenda and a little heavy cream.
It's quick and easy, which is what I want for just one cup.
Any other coffee I drink during the day is (usually) decaf.
Suz, what a wonderful story about your mom's wake and rosary...and now I know the origin of the word pall, which I've always heard used as a mood. Do people who aren't Catholic go to the rosary?
I'm betting I'll get 'em either today or tomorrow. Today would be nice, since except for weeding (which I can't do if it's pouring), my evening is pretty open. Tomorrow is a music night, and it's a rehearsal for two gigs this coming weekend, so it may run late.
Mornin' 2J.
I've put this off for far too long. I've got to get to work...
Steve and I have been watching Lonesome Dove. We don't get to watch it till about 8:30pm-9:00pm, because the boys are still up till then and they can't watch it...
I have got to learn that theme on my whistle! How moving...
I really like the little espresso percolater Ruthy recommended! Part of it is just the fun of seeing the top part fill up. And it's awfully good.
But your method sounds like the way some friends used to make "Turkish" coffee.
Does VBS last all week?
I've never seen that...is it a new show?
I don't get TV here, though.
Then I hope they come tonight. Two gigs this weekend? Wow, will that be another $50 for the Van-sama windshield fund?
My sibs and I have been evolving a car game, to be played only when incredibly bored. It started by just pointing and yelling "Van-sama" at any van we happened to see, but almost any anime we watch adds a new car to be watched for. So far we have "Honda-san" (Fruits Basket), "Pacifica" (Scrapped Princess), and "Mustang" (Fullmetal Alchemist). It's a little strange, but fun when on a long trip and the music's gotten old.
VBS does last all week. :-)
Oh, Rosie...you gotta see Lonesome Dove. You gotta get it. On my stars...it's the best movie ever. It was a mini-series on TV YEARS ago...
Steve and I both love it...
I'll email you the theme right now.
Probably won't be that much...the first one MIGHT be for no pay. It's the open mic we play for at a campground in Orford, NH. HOWEVER, they usually have a featured band open for the night and then have an open stage after that for whoever wants to play, but the featured band couldn't make it, and the guy that runs the campground asked if we'd take that spot. So...we may get advertised a bit and it's possible we'll get paid something. I doubt it'd be much...but last time he gave us $25 for gas, which I told him he shouldn't do. So...it could be we'll get ten dollars each or something, just for being there.
The one on Sunday is for an anniversary party, and I think we get thirty dollars each. That one will be more "for fun" than anything, though. We'll be very much in the background, from what I understand. I like both types of gigs, though! On stage is more stressful, but also can be more rewarding if you have a good night and a good audience. On the other hand, background gigs like the party and like our Saturday gig may mean more individual contact with people...I had a lot of older people who had always wanted to play an instrument but didn't dare start talk to me at the craft fair, since we were right there and not up on stage. They had a lot of questions about the instruments and how we got into music. It was uplifting.
Heh...I've done the "Pacifica!" thing. But there is only one Van-sama in my world...
I have this vague feeling I've heard the theme, though I don't believe I ever saw the show.
Gonna check my e-mail and see if I'm right...
Wonder if it's something I could rent here?
