When I try to download "Brothers", I get a voice saying that the link has expired--huh.
That mountain pic set sounds cool. Is that something you can post/send? I'd like to see that.
Going to try "Ready Steady Go!" now.
Funny, it works for me. Maybe it's because you're on dialup or something.
Are you makin' fun of my dialup again? :)
Now I'm getting that message for all the links, including "Melissa" which worked before. Hmmm--maybe I'll try clearing my cache and see what that does.
Yes, you are the King of Caches, aren't you?
Hmm... I'm going to have to do some research on the philosopher's stone. Do you know off the top of your head whether human sacrifice is commonly a component of creating it?
Seems to be downloading normally now that I cleared the cache. I guess clearing the cache is another one of those things that randomly fixes everything, like rebooting :)
Alpine, at the time, was a town that existed to service the many ranches in the area. Many of the men who had houses in town were ranch hands, and rode horseback to work every morning. As one of the neighbors rode past Mrs. Morrisette's house, she would yell, "Cowboy! Cowboy, you bring me some cow poo and some chicken doo for my garden!"
Mamma said Mrs. Morrisette always had the best food in town ...
Yes, especially since it is the same stuff the body threw out the first time around.
"Yes, you are the King of Caches, aren't you?"
That's why my nickname is Cachius Clay :)
"Hmm... I'm going to have to do some research on the philosopher's stone. Do you know off the top of your head whether human sacrifice is commonly a component of creating it?"
Hmmm, good question. In many modern (i.e. Freud/Jung-influenced) magical systems the image of the stone is considered symbolic of stages in psychological/spiritual development rather than being a literal stone, and if you read modern books they'll tend to interpret the stone this way (what is sometimes called "internal alchemy"). However in the Middle Ages I think it was interpreted more literally in relation to chemical practices with the psychological/spiritual aspect being more closely linked to that context. References to human sacrifice in traditional and modern texts can likewise be literal or symbolic or both (and/or can be written in code to avoid detection by outsiders and legal authorities), so some magical systems will interpret certain traditional texts differently. There are some modern Satanic cults following the system of a German alchemist named Franz Bardon which seem to interpret the philosopher's stone with reference to human sacrifice, though they won't say this publicly. On the historical side, some names to research on this would include Nicholas Flamel, Paracelsus, Cornelius Agrippa, Robert Fludd, Alexander Seton, and Isaac Newton off the top of my head.
So on the nonfiction side I'm not sure of the answer to your question, however since you're writing fiction I think it'd be pretty easy to develop an interpretation of the philosopher's stone which involves human sacrifice. What are you thinking of writing?
I thought he came from the Soup Nazi school of humor..
Hmm.. normal-er..
Has a ring to it.
I also like "meta-normal".
Normal-er sounds like some weird weapon.
"Bring out the normal-er and make him NORMAL!"
We should start a front group called NORMALER: Normalacy Only Relatively Mandatory Among Lord of thE Ringers.
Should we make that a BSIC Inc, LLC subdivision or a facade group?
No, I think that would be the normal-izer.
I think there should be plausible denial of the group being linked to BSIC, since we want to recruit normal people into our ranks so that we appear "moderately normal" to the unsuspecting public. We need someone with an ostensibly normal background to be a figurehead. Jen, you think uncool sister would work?
"No, I think that would be the normal-izer."
Good--I like it! This could also be combined with a reverse feature to make a normalizer-disnormalizer ray.
Hmm..
So a normal-er would force someone hit with the normal-izer to be MORE normal..
It will work, she's the Sisteren in Bretheren & Sisteren in Chaos.
Remember the "Shadowy secret member" kept safely secret except from we who know stuff.
And she is much more normal than either of us.
