Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Maybe it's more expensive on the East Coast?Yeah, it is, but that figure was tuition, room and board. He got a full scholarship, though, so he ended up getting his BA for free! He's paying for it NOW though, cause he started Law school last fall!

Ave Maria was created specifically because so many nominally Catholic schools seem to have lost their identity. They have gotten too overly concerned about becoming more secular. If I didn't want her faith to be supported, I'd send her to a cheaper school than Notre Dame or Boston College!

It sounds weird to say this, but I hope there are some warm and wonderful times for you this weekend. It's not wierd at all, Corin! I know we'll have a great time remembering Mama when she was so gregarious! She could really light up a room!
I talked to my just younger sister, (the one at whose home I spent weekend before last for the Cousin Reunion) about an hour ago, and she said that they asked the Nursing Home what happened to Mama. The ladies said that they had been in her room chatting with her about 8:30. Turns out, she was back to her chatty self with the nurses and aides at the home. I guess since she didn't have a 'history' with them, she wasn't as self-conscious. But they loved her because she was always nice to them. Anyway, she has been on oxygen ever since she had her bout with pneumonia a few weeks ago, and the ladies could tell she was getting tired, so they said good night and turned the lights out. An hour later, when they came in her room to check on her, they realized she had died. She looked peaceful, they said, so she must have just gone to sleep and woken up in Heaven. They told my sisters they were really sad to lose her because they liked her. That made Joanne and Brenda feel really good to know that she was so cared for by the folks there.
We were just relieved to know that she hadn't suffered, and died the way we all would wish to go. So there will be rejoicing along with sadness, but that's the best way to be remembered. Now I gotta get to bed cause I have to leave in three hours!

Oh, Suzi, you have our sympathies.
It's so hard to let go, even after they're gone. And with Alzheimer's, you feel all the guilt in the world for something you couldn't stop.
She's happy now, and calm, and with God. Love is wrapped around her from all sides of life.
You're in our thoughts.

It took me *forever* to get out of that stinkin' parking garage... and then... of course... another half hour to get *out of town*. The roads make no sense, and none of them seem to go anywhere... least of all to freeways.
I hate going to town. :-)
But the show was worth it!! :-)

Seems like I've had deep-fried tortillas with cinnamon and sugar, too. Were they puffy? If so, they were probably sopapillas. I love to drown 'em in honey. There is an unsweetened variant called indian fry bread that is often used as a tortilla for tostadas.
Ok. Now I'm craving carbs again. Dang.

I think you are talking abotu sopapillas. They are deep fried tortillas that are drowned in sugar, then you can put honey on them.
What I do is take the extra tortillas that came with the dinner, spread margarine on one side, then sprinkle splenda over that and roll it up. It's not for everyone, but it sure does work if ya have a sweet craving and don't want a whole dessert.
