Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Glad I'm not the only one, though with a name like that I doubt I'm missing anything.

Ha! Dwarf stole the Precious.
Mudboy, you've got to hang out here a lot more if you want to snag a good number like that from one of our dwarves.

I'm gonna try on the 20th. I've got a meeting with the trolls that afternoon. I'd rather do the Slip than go all the way up to Franklin. But I'll see what I can do.

Okay, I downloaded this:
3ivx D4 4.5.1
However when I load the file, it still sends out a request for a codec, and then it shows the ambience thing.
Argh!

Yup, a lot of the first issue details the fights between Sub-Mariner and the Human Torch. Nick Fury and Howlers make a cameo, pre-WW2 appearance. The second issue jumps to the early 60s, covering the Avengers, the FF, the X-Men... third issue covers Galactus' arrival on Earth... fourth issue covers Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy's death, which is what made me bring it up in the first place. ;)

Did you, er, install it? This is the one that I use that fixed my problem.
Heh! I just bought a 29" tv off a coworker for $40 - he bought a new one and can't get rid of the old one. Heh..

Cool! I love those old Subbie-Torch fights :) I didn't even know Nick Fury was around pre-WWII--what did he do back then? Galactus' arrival on Earth--yeah, I guess that would be a historic event, come to think of it :)

"Did you, er, install it? This is the one that I use that fixed my problem."
I wasn't sure if I needed to install it or not, so after I downloaded it I just closed it and tried to play the file. Now I'm trying to open the file I downloaded for installation instructions, and it gives me the message, "NSIS Error: Installer corrupted or incomplete. This could be the result of a failed download or corruption from a virus." I guess that means I have to download again. . .
$40 for a 29" TV? Your coworker doesn't have another one, does he? :) Good deal!
There's a storm on the way here, so I might get knocked off.

I didn't even know Nick Fury was around pre-WWII--what did he do back then?It was just a 2-panel cameo... Nick and the boys hangin' out in Hell's Kitchen, talking about what they're going to do once America enters the war.

I know lots of times you have to install downloads. I was expecting it'd give me a message to that effect if that were the case. Otherwise I figured it was like an antivirus update that activates without requiring installation.
Well, I just finished downloading it again and it's asking me what I want to do, so I'm going to click "Open"--here goes. . .

Freeware-type files don't always give you that sort of message. A general rule is that if it's a exe, you have to install it.
It would be a Very Bad Thing if random exe files were just allowed to download and run themselves.
