Reporter: Why won't Hillary speak at the convention?
MacAwful: With the liberal orgy fest we've characterized with the term 'Democratic Convention', Hillary couldn't possibly speak and maintain that moderate facade we've been crafting for her, uh -duh!
Oops, there was a typo. The writer meant to say, "Vanessa will go out at odds of 3-1 in the fifth race at Pimlico."
Page Six reports: Barbara and Jenna Bush will be dressed for the Republican National Convention by society designer Lela Rose, for whom Barbara once worked as a summer intern . . .
Will Alexandra and Vanessa will be "dressed" by Wayne Lukas?
Cindy Adams opines: Sunday's a soiree for Bill and Hill. Bill Clinton will grace Boston one day only. Monday. He makes the opening ceremonies and then he's history. Back out on the trail hustling The Book, of which you may have heard. Hillary's there all week, and as I reported months ago, Hillary won't speak publicly. She will, however, be plentifully heard privately. And let it be understood, John Edwards is now a visible pain in her future.
Kerry aides had defended the move by saying Clinton didn't ask for a role. But that explanation led one Clinton loyalist to grouse, "She didn't ask? Big deal. She's a rock star in the Democratic Party. She doesn't have to."
Kerry campaign manager Mary Beth Cahill highlighted the role Clinton was given for the convention - appearing with other female senators on opening night. Kerry chose Maryland Sen. Barbara Mikulski to speak for the group. And she noted that the convention's keynote speaker is Barack Obama, an African-American running for U.S. Senate in Illinois.
He's a "new leader on the stage," she said. "All along, we looked at this [convention] as an opportunity to showcase tomorrow for the Democratic Party."
But many New York Democrats and Clinton fans think Kerry's camp made a huge mistake.
"She's our rock star in the Democratic Party right now, and they should take full advantage, because they need individuals like Hillary to energize this campaign," said Albany Mayor Gerald Jennings, a Democrat.
Chances are good that Republican delegates will not be checking out the powerHouse Gallery on Charlton St. during their convention here next month. That's where photographer Larry Fink's controversial exhibit "The Forbidden Pictures" - of a President Bush look-alike partying and groping women - will be on view with a vengeance until the convention ends on Sept. 2.
Fink refers to his photos, first taken on a fashion assignment for The New York Times Magazine, as "forbidden" because The Times decided against publishing them after 9/11. He claims the woman being groped in the shots (see right) are "a metaphor for our foreign policy."
Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter writes in the exhibit catalogue that "The Bush Administration has offended many, but clearly it has done a number on Fink ... . 'The Forbidden Pictures' remind us that after a war based on deception, the tearing away of our civil rights, and the atmosphere of unprecedented secrecy surrounding the White House, it's no longer liberal hysteria to say that we're living under the governance of what can reasonably be said is an Imperial presidency." source
Editor's note: The following is the complete list of how senators voted today, July 14, 2004, on a cloture motion to bring the Federal Marriage Amendment to the full Senate floor. The measure failed 50-48, with 2 senators, John Kerry and John Edwards, not voting.

It's that horrible screeching spilling out of her huge mouth when she screeches before a crowd they must be equating with rock star. Courtney Love comes to mind.

There ya go, dissin' thoroughbreds everywhere...
Cheers, all.
The other day, someone at the co-op read that a methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farm house in the adjoining county and he asked me a question, "Why didn't we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up, Milo?"
I smiled when I answered him saying, "I DID have a drug problem when I was a kid growing up on the farm in southeast Kansas. I was drug to church on Sunday mornings and for weddings and funerals. I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults and teachers. I was also drug to the 'woodshed' when I disobeyed my parents or if I had a 'smart-mouth.'
I was drug to my room to work on improving my homework and my attitude if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug outside on Saturday mornings to pull weeds in our garden and flower beds."
Those "drugs" are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin, and if today's children had this kind of drug problem, America might be a better place today.

Hmmm, I had that same "drug" problem living in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles during my youth as Milo did on that Kansas farm!

Shortly after Alexandra had the wardrobe/flashbulb misfunction, and the world could see that she wears no underwear, it was announced that Armani had volunteered to dress her for the campaign. If she has taken him up on it, it has not been evident yet but perhaps she is waiting for the convention.
Yahoo News thinks this photo of Teresa with a water bottle on her head is newsworthy. She sure seems "up" today, guess those vitamins she is taking have kicked in...hee hee
Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites), D-Mass., teases Trish May, second left, by holding a bottle of water atop her head as Dr. Anne McTiernan, left, and Bridgette Richardson laugh, Thursday, July 15, 2004, in Seattle. May's company, Athena Partners, bottles the water and gives all of the net profits to women's cancer research and Heinz Kerry said she was helping publicize the product. Heinz Kerry spoke to women and health care professionals at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center about the health-care plan envisioned by her husband and running mate Sen. John Edwards (news - web sites), D-N.C. (AP Photo/Elaine Thompson)
I'm still infuriated at how the media is letting Kerry play word games with the gay marriage issue.
Here's the question Tim Russert or some enterprising reporter should put to him or Edwards:
"Ohio's legislature has passed the equivalent of the Defense of Marriage Act. Ohioans are also likely to pass a voter initiative declaring marriage to be between a man and a woman. You say let the states decide the issue. If a state or federal court tells Ohio it must recognize marriages performed in, let's say Massachussetts, how would you preserve Ohio's rights?"
I think the Hillary-won't-speak uproar may be a stunt. They'll pull her out like a rabbit-hat thing during prime time. You watch.
(Is he the biggest dork in history, or what?!)
Kerry is a double doofus.
When I first heard that Hillary had not been asked to speak, my first thoughts were "B.S. If she has not been asked, it is because she let it be known that she would not speak". My guess is she was pouting because of Edwards being so popular and initially did not want to speak but then thought better of it and changed her mind.
Kerry personally invited her to introduce Slick Willy. Hillary Clinton Gets Convention Speaking Slot
My question is: Since the networks have said only one hour per night coverage, will Slick and the Beast be able to wrap up her introduction and his speech in an hour and if they don't what will the networks do...
It depends on whether he does that stupid long walk thru the basement again. This time they could do it together!
