This morning I watched a male (red) cardinal feed his prospective mate (brown) on the tree outside my window. She waited patiently while he brought her things and fed them to her. Beak to beak.
He obviously wanted to get laid. I think his chances were pretty good. He was certainly working at it.
It was really something to see. They were very affectionate with each other.
People should do so well.
Have a cardinal pair in my backyard. They are such a delight to listen to and watch! For some reason, they have taken a liking to my green beans. One day watched the male delicately pick beans from the plants.
