Happy July to all! I would like to use this week's thread as a sounding board (if that means what I think it means). How do you like the basic layout of the thread? Do you like having one topic for eveyone to sound off on, or would you prefer the thread to be a little more loose--a little more like a bunch of moms shooting the breeze and going off on tangents over coffee (or juleps!)? This is our thread, remember, not my thread, so be as honest as you like. What say you, moms?
I hope that everyone has a fun and safe Fourth! Happy birthday America!
Good evening, all! I have to take the boys to their ear exams in the morning so I'm posting early.
hey, I'm easy :) thats why my hubby married me..
really, I dont have a preference. I own my own business, and then come home to kids and dinner and pets (did you know that you could get a guinea pig at 4 weeks old and 2 months later it will have babies??) 2 dogs, 4 cats, 3 hermit crabs and 3 little piggies....
I just want to have a place to chat, and when you ping me, I will visit, I'll bring coffee and my killer chocolate cookies
Happy 4th everyone, and God Bless America, and our troops who keep us free
Donna
Ugh! All those pets? I'm telling my children we can't even get one dog until they can learn to pick up around the house for more than a month. I can't imagine so many animales.
I love the easy going ranting and raving!!!!!!!!
Good luck with the boys in the morning.
I'll probably be around early in the morning - but then the day is probably going to take on it's own tentacles.......it's Jax birthday - and boy oh boy does she know it.
Our number 1 priority is going and picking out the "theme" of her b'day party and getting the invitations so they can be sent out this weekend.
The party is not going to be until the 17th - this being the holiday weekend, everyone has plans, and my SIL can't make it down next weekend - that's why we are waiting 2 weeks.........but we will do at least a little something tomorrow.
Evening ... we have houseguests from Oklahoma, so we'll be out tomorrow, but maybe I'll have a commment ...
I like having the topic to start off, but I think we all just like to visit.
my hubby lives in fear that as the kids get older, and leave, I will take in more animals...
You know, sometimes, it just happens. I didnt expect the hermit crabs to survive a month, and here we are almost a year later. You can all but ignore them. As I said, I didnt know the piggy was going to have more piggies... I thought she was just getting fat. Oh dopey me.
I cant live without dogs, I have had them my entire life, and they are such good vaccums. Hubby is a OTR truck driver, so I feel safer with them around.
The cats... well they think I should be honored when they hop on my lap to pet them :)
I have a big heart, and as all the kids know, over at Miss Donnas house, thats the place to be.
Good for you!!!!
Like you - I can't live without dogs.........so far I have been able to avoid the need for anything else, although I do see at least 1 barn kitty in the very near future.......
I have a collie mix, Daisy, she is the leader of the rest. That silly dog would wee all over you if you love on her, but I know she would just as soon rip out someones neck if any of us were threatend. Duncan, the boxer mix, his job is to bark, tear up the yard, and just act goofy. What kind of dogs do you have?
I have had 3 mastiffs in my life, I love the breed and cant wait till I can have another.
Hi everyone. Today I made the orange dreamsicle cake that rocky88 posted awhile back, and it was very yummy! Good recipe, it's a keeper!
I could go either way on having a topic or not. It's just nice to yak with other adults, in a family-oriented setting. :)
Both of mine are lab mixes........my old girl is lab/chessie and we always considered her dumber than a box of rocks - until we lost the (even)older one that was a lab/chow mix. She'll be 12 next month and now we have another lab/chow mix who was just a year old in May.
Both of mine sound like your two. Anisette, the old one, loves attention, unless you threaten any of us..........and she has taught the little one, Cinderella, very well. neither one wants you in the house, but do get over it after a little while - which is a nice thing living out in the middle of nowhere.
Mastiffs are beautiful dogs.............but I don't think I would go that way. I'm very happy with the luck I've had with the lab mixes and think I will stay with that!
It's killing me. Everytime I see a dog I think of how much I want one, but until the four little "animals" I gave birth to can help out more I still have to say "not now".

Congratulations, Kiki! Best wishes for a quick recovery!
One of my friends back in Oklahoma had her 7th baby (6th boy) on Sunday. I need to go shopping for baby gifts!
Kiki!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How wonderful!!!!!!!!!
congratulations!!!!!!!
My chow/lab mix Sambuca was the same way when Jax was born..........if Jax even made a peep Sam was at my feet making noiss as if asking me why I wasn't paying attention.
Collie's are wonderful dogs.......your little Evie is so lucky to have such a faithful attendant!!!
Hey, I just think it is nice to have a place to come as the others mentioned. When I saw get out the tools, I thought we were talking home improvements :-)
I have 2 dogs as well and they are great guard dogs.
Been a bit bummed because I am currently facing the reality that I need to get a job again (now that I am used to being home with the kiddies) oh well such is life.
Been religiously scanning ads, etc. Sending resumes, etc. It is keeping me busy.
I swear there has got to be some type of legitimate business we could do from home so we wouldn't have to get a job and leave being home with the kids.
They've got to be out there - I just haven't found them..........sigh.
I think the best are the ones you start yourself.
