Help! Viking Kitty Messed Up My Computer!

Posted on 06/28/2004 9:07:28 AM PDT by Not A Snowbird

Help, all you techies out there. Last night my cat sat on my keyboard (all 24 pounds of him). When I finally dislodged him, I discovered my screen display had rotated 90 degrees. I can't figure out what combination of keys he sat on to cause this, so I can't undo what he did.

Anybody out there know what to do? I'm working on a Dell with Windows XP. And please don't tell me to get a Mac, that would not be very helpful right now.

It appears that you have an ATI display adapter. If you can rotate your screen temporarily you can access the display settings and check for the ATI hotkeys to rotate screen back to normal. I have cats myself and I always Windows Key+L to lock computer. This way if cats jump on keyboard, it doesnt mess things up. You may also try Iams Weight Control cat food to lighten them up!!!!

I figured I'd get more fat cat jokes than tech support by posting here... I did get some good advice further down the line, once everybody got the ribbing out of the way.

:0)

My Kitty Zorro sits on the top of the monitor I think because he likes to feel the heat, show Viking he can sit on that spot...

He'd have difficulty with my flat screen, and he's too fat to make it to the top of my husband's gateway monitor. Besides, Tigger is usually already sleeping there! :-)

Hmmm Ok:-) Another option is "Major Kitty Excercise" Zorro likes to chase the little red laser light jumps on the walls trying to get it all over the floor, he lost 5 lbs since I bought the little laser light...He's de-clawed, fixed and stays indoors, so they tend to get a bit lazy and fat sometimes...
You gotta love-em! :-) Zorro is 15 pounds..Viking sounds very big!

Not sure how this displays in your operating system, but if you have a "view" drop down menu, click on it and look for "rotate" or circular arrow to click on to change the image 90 degrees at a time. Alternatively, when you have a picture open, look for the circular arrow tile somewhere around the picture and click on it.

**** NEWS FLASH ****** Fox News is reporting that the entire Mountain, Mt. Rainier in Washington State has fallen over. Reporters on the scene describe it like "the mountain is now lying on its side.".. Early reports in from the nations capital show a concerned President George Bush, however, Vice President Dick Cheney is spewing swear words... Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry released as statement blaming the Bush administration for not being prepared for this type of event. If "HE" were President, all mountains would be infused with millions of Government aid to prevent such an action from occuring. Former Vice-President Al Gore popped a vein in his neck while screaming "The President Played On Our Mountain's Fears" and rumors have it that Michael Moore is on his way to Washington State to film the true life documentary of "The Day The Mountain Ended"... (Hillary Clinton was reportedly seen running from the scene moments before Mt. Rainier turned on it's side). Check your local Fox News for updates. This has been a "Fox Alert"..

The vet wants him to exercise, so the laser light sounds like a good idea. He's 24 pounds. Big kitty!

LOL, JSP1!

I'm gonna use it on two libs, who work at my front retail counter in the nursery, while they're away at lunch. I hate to do it to people in my own company, but I can always un-do it afterward. This'll be the "pee in their cornflakes" for this week. It'll be interesting to see how they handle it.

HI Sandy.

Call Dell.
Ask for Tech Support.
Explain the problem to them.

I just got an email from them; I'm supposed to reboot in safe mode and do a system restore. We'll see.

I'm very curious as to what combination of keys caused this.

Ding, ding, ding!!! We have a winner!!!

Thanks to all for playing, and for all the cat jokes. My system is now right-side up, and my fat Viking Kitty is banned from sitting on the desk.

OK OK OK, you got my vote, that was way toooooo funny. It made me snort a piece of popcorn, and the screen is all blurry from laughing so hard.

Ahhh, thanks, I needed that
