Right now, Godzilla's parent company, Toho Pictures, Ltd., is filming his 50th anniversary movie, "GODZILLA: Final Wars" (GFW), which will see a worldwide release in December of this year. It is rumored to be the biggest ever produced by Toho, featuring battles in major cities all over the world and no less than 13 different monsters.
Many FReepers, especially those of us in "Gen X", have many fond memories of the Big G and friends (and some of us never grew out of it, LOL), so I thought a thread like this would be a good place for us to gather and kick around old memories and personal opinions of these charming-if-cheesy entries in film history. We might also discuss such topics as "Godzilla versus Great Cthulhu...who'd win?" (which just occurred to me...wouldn't THAT one be great?!?).
Let the fun begin!

My favorite Japanese monster never took off to cult status. A rip-off of
The Blob, the 1959 movie
The H-Man among its other virtues titillated (buttilated?) with an unusual amount of female undress for the time. It set my heart thumping although, 9 years old at the time, I wasn't sure why.

Hey, Dog, you oughtta see GMK...watch Japanese pilots in SU-35's (!) use JDAMS against Godzilla in that one.
In the '90's movies, there were some pretty good scenes of F-15's battling both Rodan and King Ghidorah.
