Yesterday was really father's day here.......but it dawned om me after Jax had gone to bed we had forgotten to give him his presents. Since he is working so late tonight - they are going to have to wait until tomorrow.....which is fine with him.
OH no.........the dreaded Atlanta!!!!!!!!!!!
Early start here too...........got up with hubby to have coffee with him before he headed to work.

i saw that on F&F too, before we left for church. Brian Wilson cracked me up with him wiping his eyes with his tie. i like him!
Hubby is due home from training any minute-they finished the closing banquet too late for him to leave last night-he didn't really want to do a 4 hour drive after dark, tired and full. He said the prime rib roast they were served was tough and had no flavor until he drowned it in horseradish sauce-pitiful!
I've noticed that same thing in this rural area, too-there is always something going on for kids and parents and kids to do. And it is always sponsored by one of the churches, the marinas or the community center maintained by the HOA-and it is never expensive. I like it because at least everyone knows what their kids (and everyone elses') are up to. There is everything from craft classes at the community center on Saturday to family fishing tournaments to dances for the teens.
My poor hubby left here about 7:30 this morning.....and then after a full work day has a 6-8 hour installation to do starting at 6:30.......and it's a 2 hour drive for him to get home.
As the guy who is doing it with him said on the phone last night "happy f'in Father's Day."
There are a number of community centers around here, but they are operated for the migrant workers and don't offer anything for the locals.
I've learned to minutely read everything in the local papers and that is how I find out about these things. I get my real news here or watching FNC because the 2 local papers do not have any national news in them at all. they are truly local papers - which is fine with me!!!!
Gee, what a fun Fathers' Day for Coolbreeze-bummer. My hubby just got home a few minutes ago, changed into cutoff jeans and put a bunch of dirty clothes from his trip into the hamper in the utility room-good thing I haven't washed anything yet today but a load of sheets and towels.
Our local papers only carry local news, too-I love it! Like you, if I want anything else, I go to FNC, or the city paper online. In the city, most of the community centers are run by the city government with everyones' tax dollars, and they cater to welfare recipients, not the middle class. It is great to have a community center operated on HOA fees, annual events and donations, rather than by some government entity-the members of the community decide what programs/services are provided, not Big Brother.
Coolbreeze had a great Father's day yesterday - except I forgot to pull out the presents - oh well he gets a seond Father's when he gets home from work tomorrow.
There are a couple of things around here that appear to be joint private/public ventures and they seem to work very well.
I noticed at the thing we went to last weekend down at the community college the folks at the domestic abuse, teen pregnancy, and literacy booths spent a bunch of time with certain folks and quickly punched the cards and handed the goodies to other kids and sent them on their merry way. The total opposite was at booths like the Coast Guard, Game and Fish, and even the local electric cooperative.
Can you guess which booths my kid spent a lot of time at?????
But it was a public/private thing and every child that went to all 30 booths was given a brand new bicycle helmet at booth 30.
glad your hub made it home ok, bet you are happy to see him. xsboy and xshub are playing golf now, we will eat when they get here. the girls and i are hungry so i hope they hurry up! i got a new card with increased memory for my digicam for the vaca. and am hoping that i will be able to stitch on these flights. i will precut the thread, bc i am sure they would confiscate my scissors. i went into Jo-ann Fabrics and talked to the lady back in the sewing machine area, who just got back from a flight from Denmark, who had the same thought as me, how to stitch on a long flight. Somone needs to invent something to cut thread, that will make it past the airline security. it doesn't have to be a sharp pointed edge, just like the thing on the back of the zipper foot on a sewing machine that you push the thread through to cut it. i can picture in my mind what i mean, but unfortunately no such thing exists that i have seen.
EEK - am I weird? I always precut my thread for a new project. Not all of the it, but for what I think I'm going to need for the first section I'm doing, at least.
And that has nothing to do with travelling - I used to sit in the bar doing my xs.
Heck I sat at the bar and crocheted a bunting and an afghan while I was pregnant.
What can I tell you - everyone loved me, they stocked my N/A beer and it was air conditioned - something I did't have at home - that year it was 98 by mid May. if I wasn't in that place with the crocheting, I was in the lobby of the capitol - I I had a few bills on the agenda and it was cool have the Reps or Sinators come to me sitting on the sofa outside the chamber..............
