Word For The Day, Friday, June 18, 2004
6/18/04 | Slip 18

Posted on 06/18/2004 5:22:50 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Haven’t checked my mood ring yet. Y’all behave yourselves, ya hear? Principal JimRob is still out of town. I expect the utmost respect on this thread today. The Mods have been overworked lately.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer.

Toroid noun:
Pronunciation: Tor-roid (how easy is that?)

1) A surface generated by the rotation of a plane closed curve about an axis lying in the plane and not intersecting it
2) A body whose surface has the form of a toroid.

3) Not in the dictionary, but in other words a DONUT would be toroidal (adverb). This is for xs and her Dunkin’ Donut friends. “I’d like a chocolate toroidal, please.

Morning ladies..........glad all your plans went well and all had a good time.

The fishing tournament was an absolute blast!!!!!!!! 83 little kids with parents fishing from the town pier. The group that sponsored it proved evry child that registered with a brand new rod and reel and tackle box.

The fishing unfortunately was LOUSY. In the 2 hour time allotment only 5 fish were caught and 2 of those by one little boy, who couldn't' have been more than 4! The water was really choppy because there was very stiff breeze coing in over the bay --- but it did keep the bugs away and make the temperatures tolerable.

When we left there we headed for the beach where Jax made a new friend, hubby caught one fish, I caught a bunch of rays and started and subsequently finished a Clive Cusseler novel.

Great Day!!!!!

Sounds like ya'll had a great day, and what fun for the kids! There's a big annual fishing tournament going on here right now-it has been advertised in flyers at all the local businesses for several weeks, and at 4:00 this morning, a gazillion boats launched from the marina 4 miles upriver (they are sponsoring the tournament) and went cruising up and down, looking for a good fishing spot. There are two boats anchored just below the cliff we are on-I can hear people talking on them. I hope they get lucky fast-all the participants have to be back at the marina by 8:00 to present their catch for judging...

What a way to wake up!!!!!!!!!!!

Hubby was so impressed with the way they ran the operation that he immediately signed up for membership in the club.

We were talking about things yesterday and hubby noted tht here in this extremely rural area, there is far more to do with kids or for kids to do that are inexpensive or no ost at all than there was in most of the state of Delaware.

And far more of these things are done by private groups, as opposed to relying on the government to do them.

Glad you had a great day too! Ours got off to an early start today. I've already walked (actually ran) LulaBelle, made breakfast and weeded my front yard flower beds. Oh, yes, and I've done a load of laundry. CG is doing his yard work. He'll be leaving late this afternoon for Atlanta. :(

Not really. And I'm not getting to see Donald Earl for Father's Day-he is headed to North Carolina. Also Juliet's dad was just on F&F, and he made me cry. Sheesh!

Yeah-it's around lunch time, and should be a nice break from work. Also, I want to see if he looks like a little dough boy in person.
