There are students here that do that, too. My boss was complaining because he has students that show up for EVERY class and are attentive, ace the tests...but still fail because they don't do any of the homework assignments. That's just sad.
I saw that happen. Never understood it, but in a number of classes the percentage of grade dependant on homework was reduced to low enough that if you aced all the tests, you'd probably squeak by. But why - I'm talking about at a college level. I've seen enough high school students with boring or stupid homework to understand why they don't want to bother.
