Yep, Dads are very important, us good ones anyway. ;-)
My Dad wasn't a bad father. But he was absent from a lot of my growing up because of his alcoholism. I mean, he was in the home, but never really there.
I made a commitment a long time ago to try to do better than that for my boys. I screw a lot of stuff up but they ain't gettin' rid of me.
Sometimes Dads are jerks tho. And sometimes they just go away.
Right now Ruthy's girls don't realize how special their mom is to be taking on both roles. One day they will.
Mm, yes, Ruthy's kids are in very good hands. They're not going to end up as statistics!
Sometimes I wonder where I'd be without my dad. It could have happened that way, he could have walked away but he didn't. All the time growing up people would say I was just like my father. Now I see what a compliment that was. I'm blessed to have two parents who are interested in seeing me well on my way. I've finally figured out how to spend time with my mother. And so, of course, I'm moving across the country.
