Finding military info on a WWII vet (UPDATED!)

Posted on 06/16/2004 11:42:34 AM PDT by livianne

I had posted a while ago that I was looking for info regarding my grandfather's service - I just wanted to let people know that I got something!

My mother discovered his discharge papers in with his things, and she gave me a copy. So now I know when he served, where he served and what medals he was awarded. She said he used to have a group from his regiment he met with, but she thinks they might all have passed away. I'm definitely going to look into it thought.

Anyway, I just wanted to let people know because I'm so excited about it.

I hope he wouldn't mind my digging into his service, since he never liked to talk about it when he was alive....
