Word For The Day, Wednesday, June 16, 2004
Webster's New Third Internantional Dictionary | Wednesday, June 16, 2004We | Slip 18

Posted on 06/16/2004 5:44:41 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Haven’t checked my mood ring yet. Y’all behave yourselves, ya hear? Principal JimRob is still out of town. I expect the utmost respect on this thread today. The Mods have been overworked lately.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer.

vagary noun:
Pronunciation: Pronounced about three different ways. Take your pick.
Etymology: Probably fr. Latin

1) Archaic: Journey, excursion, tour (Sea Dragon’s adventures?)
2) Archaic: An aimless digression
3) Obsequious: (a) A departure from the regular, lawful or proper course of conduct. (b)Caper, frolic
4) A departure from the normal, expected or logical order of course. (a) A capricious, eccentric or unpredictable action. (b) A change that is hard to predict or explain.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

RULES: You must use the WFTD in a sentence for an A. For a + after your “A,” you must bring in a link of the word usage or something funny, a poem or some prose that will elucidate the word for us.

If you need to know how to link, come to the Subbie’s desk in the front of the class.

I'll have them fingerpainting in the back of the classroom. I'll also ask Gabz, Secret Garden and the Tiger to monitor as much as possible. I'll give them keys to my desk.

Tiger always steals the grade book so he can get the highest grade, though. So the key will either go to Gabz or SG.

He's such a nice guy, you'd never suspect that he'd harm anything.
(Think I'll introduce him to some 'friends' over at the missus church...)

It will be so nice to see them again. We saw them the last time they were here, then again at FRiva. They are a wonderful couple, and their son Chris is just so good.

We'll take photos.

Around Halloween and Thanksgiving, I like pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread. But pumpkin spice cookies? That's about as appealing as bell pepper ice cream.

pumpkin bread if it has some nuts of some sort in it, i am not big on pumpkin pie. but pumpkin cookies are a waste of dough IMO.

What she is really excited about are all the work books she has been given by the 1st grade teacher. she can't wait to start using them. Math, spelling, reading comprehension, and handwriting.

Well, I'm J of her! That sounds like much more fun than endless conference calls and powerpoint presentations. BLECH! OTOH, she's not old enough for beer, and when I get home, I can have a cold one...or two...or......! ;)

LOL!!!!!!!!!!

On her 4th birthday we did the family birthday party for heer at my SIL's house. She looked at my SIL and matter of factly stated "I can't wait to be 7" when asked why, she replied, in the same matter-of-fact tone "Because then I can drink beer."

I actually spit beer across the room.
