Word For The Day, Wednesday, June 16, 2004
Webster's New Third Internantional Dictionary | Wednesday, June 16, 2004We | Slip 18

Posted on 06/16/2004 5:44:41 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Haven’t checked my mood ring yet. Y’all behave yourselves, ya hear? Principal JimRob is still out of town. I expect the utmost respect on this thread today. The Mods have been overworked lately.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer.

vagary noun:
Pronunciation: Pronounced about three different ways. Take your pick.
Etymology: Probably fr. Latin

1) Archaic: Journey, excursion, tour (Sea Dragon’s adventures?)
2) Archaic: An aimless digression
3) Obsequious: (a) A departure from the regular, lawful or proper course of conduct. (b)Caper, frolic
4) A departure from the normal, expected or logical order of course. (a) A capricious, eccentric or unpredictable action. (b) A change that is hard to predict or explain.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

RULES: You must use the WFTD in a sentence for an A. For a + after your “A,” you must bring in a link of the word usage or something funny, a poem or some prose that will elucidate the word for us.

If you need to know how to link, come to the Subbie’s desk in the front of the class.

My dogs lick my toes, also. The cat licks my knuckles, then bites me. Cyber says they are love bites.

Darksheare, I'm always messing up when I post threads. I don't know why, I just go blank when they ask me all those questions. If it just said "WFTD," then it would be okay. And it was that way for a while. But now I have to make choices, and my choices for threads are not the best ones.

I haven't put WFTD on "Breaking News" in a while. The Mods understand. They've always been good to me. I've never even been chastised once for being incorrect. But I always let them know, "I did it again."

I goof at times myself.
I rarely post threads, but when I do I set it in chat just to be safe.
*chuckle*

Where the heck is "chat"? I couldn't find it. Do you have to open another page to get there?

Oh, Tioga, I saw that on the news last night. My heart breaks for that man and his family. Of course, our prayers are out for him big time.

When posting a thread, there's an option to click that sends it to the chat section or into breaking news.
(or bloggers and such)
It's been easily a month or three since I posted my last thread (Field Artillery Mortar Ping List thread in 'chat under the keywords FAMPL and FAPL about the new Stryker SP howitzer.)
Wish I could get a screen capture of the options to show you what the devil I'm babbling about, but there is an option to click or such to put the thread in chat.

Thanks. I'll find it tomorrow. I'm subbing for eight days. I should be able to get it correctly soon.

I just got out of a meeting which he attended and he said he was feeling better. I only get an occasional twinge and my bruise has almost gone.

Kerry wants afterschool programs This thread could get fun. It's drawing some of the mom should stay at home crowd. Also, Protagorass has just joined in.

One of the mods should be able to give you a better 'walk through' than my (faulty) posting memory can.
Welcome.

And good luck with subbing, it's sometimes fun and sometimes a pain.

good Grief - it is raining to beat the band. I can't even see the field across the road.......and the school bus is due sometime in the next 20-30 minutes.

I'm just guesstimating the time of the bus arrival.....school was being dismissed early today.

At least they had decent weather yesterday for their picnic.
