Hi Jen. Happy Flag Day.
Happy Flag Day to you all!!! I love flying our nation's beautiful flag every day.
Missy and I have girl stuff to do. See y'all later, I hope.
A feeble attempt at poetry as posted last night at the Foxhole...
You're welcome. I had forgotten about that one.
Wishing you a fun, relaxing, pain-free day. :)
Thanks, Amy. I am doing great today. It's amazing what a good night's sleep and a couple of Aleve will do. :-)
You have a great day too!
Clever!! LOL! Cute poem today.
Thanks. It seemed barren of possibilities, but I gritted my teeth...
LOL!!! Well, you done good!
I tried to think of a witty rejoinder that would be worthy of your clever reply, but I just don't have your way with words.
Have a nice day, everyone!
I know what you mean. Conspiracy Guy stunned me to silence yesterday.
We all have our moments. Thanks for the images.
Have a wonderful day Mama Bear!
Hey, cyborg. You too!
Now stop that! It was a very nice poem. Thanks for posting it here. :-)
Thank you for the photos.
I'll look at them again and save any that I may want to use later.
Thank you for sharing your pictures with us. That storm didn't bring more tornadoes, did it?
That is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us on Flag Day.
I hope you are having a wonderful week.
Thank you for the Faded Flags poem, NnB.
Billie ..... the graphic is beautiful. Thank you!!
LOL
Great job, Meekie. Thank you!!
Good evening, Jen.
Happy that you and Missy are having a good time just hanging out.
Maybe you can call MamaDixie over and the three of you can hang out here later this evening. ;~)
Beautiful flag graphic and wonderful poems in honor of Flag Day.
Thank you, OESY. I will save those two poems to use at a future date. Thank you for posting them.
I hope you are having a very good Monday and are planning a fun week.
Happy Flag Day, everybody.
As a schoolboy, one of Red Skelton's teachers explained the words and meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance to his class. Skelton later wrote down, and eventually recorded, his recollection of this lecture. It is followed by an observation of his own.I - - Me; an individual; a committee of one.
Pledge - - Dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.
Allegiance - - My love and my devotion.
To the Flag - - Our standard; Old Glory ; a symbol of Freedom; wherever she waves there is respect, because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts, Freedom is everybody's job.
United - - That means that we have all come together.
States - - Individual communities that have united into forty-eight great states. Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose. All divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common purpose, and that is love for country.
And to the Republic - - Republic--a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people; and it's from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.
For which it stands
One Nation - - One Nation--meaning, so blessed by God.
Indivisible - - Incapable of being divided.
With Liberty - - Which is Freedom; the right of power to live one's own life, without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.
And Justice - - The principle, or qualities, of dealing fairly with others.
For All - - For All--which means, boys and girls, it's as much your country as it is mine.
And now, boys and girls, let me hear you recite the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands; one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country, and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance: Under God. Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said that was a prayer, and should be eliminated from schools, too?
