Such as...............
Ummmm... because carriers that are not deployed do little in the way of projecting american military power?
That's my guess, anyway.
We're doomed!
"Flatten your house, anywhere, anytime."
It's the Illuminati plotting to take over the world!
Damascus? Tehran?
It has to be done someday.
Might as well do it while the iron is hot.
Because almost ALL of the World Leaders are in Washington, DC on FRIDAY.....????....Maybe?
Meteors are on the way which will destroy the entire planet. Why they are putting ships to sea is beyond me. /tinfoil
There are a couple of exercises going on to test the Navy's ability to surge task forces of ships at the same time. These are things you have to actually do when you don't have to in order to find out if you can when you do.
Because we're at war, silly.
USS Enterprise (CVN 65) - Atlantic Ocean
USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) - Atlantic Ocean
USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) - Pacific Ocean
USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) - Pacific Ocean

USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) - Pacific Ocean
USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) - Atlantic Ocean
USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) - port visit, Rio De Janeiro
I'm going to take a shower...
For me, this number is without context. What is the "usual" percentage? I have friends in San Diego, however, who were making similar observations many months ago.
No real reason to deploy off the coast, aircraft can be relocated to land bases if there was a need to keep air cover, and the Air Force can do that, too.
The only logical reason to move a sip out of port is if you think the Port is going to get bown up. Anti-Submarine activities can be doen from land bases, unless these ships are forward deployed to a single area.
This is not the 40's, we have much better means to detect submarines and ships at sea.
I cant think of a good military reason to deploy.
People at the BBC are flapping about a major story!!
My cousin who works as an assistant editor with BBC News in London just phoned to let me know that he has been advised to be available this weekend for a "major" coverage news story. He mentioned that all the big wigs and senior editors and producers have been in meetings all day and there are major rumors about a story that has been covered by a D Notice (the supression of a news story in the UK which may be damaging to the National Security).
He also said that the managers are working and planning at a frantic pace not seen since Princess Di was killed. Almost everyone knows that something is going down but the management are saying that it is to do with the funeral of Regan on Friday but they don´t believe a word of it.
He knows a few people on the top floor (secretaries) and they mentioned some people having a meeting today with the Board of Governors - there were a couple of names mentioned but he has no idea who they are - M or N Wilkinson, J Grieve and someone else named Ormand or similar - any ideas??
Thats all he could say but something is not quite right.
Fire at will captains.
Just a hunch.
FMCDH(BITS)
Well, there are 12, not 10 carriers.
Shhhh...
Don't tell anybody this, but we're invading Canada.
