Born in northwest Illinois where his boyhood home is now a monument. Spent part of his life in Iowa. Republican office holder. Had a failed marriage followed by a long successful one. Spent time in Hollywood and worked in the movies. Died in Los Angeles. Remembered as a legendary American.
This describes Ronald Reagan and who else?

Did you know that the cowboy actor Tom Mix was at Wyatt Earp's funeral?
To: Cincinatus
The parallels between Earp and Reagan are striking. They were born in the same place and died in the same place.
They were both known as tough, courageous men who faced down adversaries.

I'd guess John Wayne but I don't remember him holding any political office. Plus, I believe the Duke was born in Iowa.
