You must have forgotten this story .... As a young bashful wife of two years, I faced my first Presidential Election. Being the daughter of Southern Democrats, I registered as a Democrat though I was married to a staunch Republican.
Every Sunday during lunch with my Italian in-laws, I heard every reason why I should vote for Richard Nixon instead of John Kennedy. Not being one comfortable with confrontations, I would just nod my head.
After President Kennedy won the election, my SIL asked who I voted for and I confessed that I had voted for Kennedy. For years afterward when someone would comment about me being so quiet, she would say "yes, but she has a mind of her own. She will do as she damn well pleases" and then she would relate the story of what she thought was my agreeing with her and then doing as I pleased.
I'm happy to report that tho I probably voted for the Democratic Candidate for Governor in 1962, Kennedy was the last Democrat that I voted for for President.
A long story to relate that I'm gonna do what *I* wanna do. *grin*
