Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

By the way...this morning I made the mock danish and added a good sized amount of cocoa powder, and when it was almost done, sprinkled some almond slivers on top. I've been craving chocolate, and this turned out good!

*yawn*

I stayed up wayyy too late last night. I was on the modest clothing thread, and it got me thinking about vintage clothes, and I ended up browing here, looking at clothes I can't afford or fit into. ;-) But still fun to look!

Someday I'm going to get a nice evening gown, just to have. I wouldn't get a vintage gown, I don't think, though. I'd be too paranoid about it. But I love a lot of the styles!

I liked Pitch Black...

We did too! We saw the previews for Riddick in the theater before seeing it. When I saw Dame Judi Dench in the preview I knew I had to see Riddick , and we figured it might be useful to see Pitch Black first. I like Vin Diesel, but then I just love action movies!

Dear WN.... I am sitting here waiting to hear from you before I do anything else. I have read your FRMail to ecurbh (our monitors are 3 feet apart) and I don't understand it. I don't understand hostility to him, or about of all things, our weather, but to be honest, I think you'll see on a re-read that we locals here, your hosts at this event, were all three getting a little fatigued last night about you seeming pretty impossible to please regarding the weather here.

But by seeing in your FRMail that you think you HAVE to wear shorts and be miserable because I demand that, I think we just have found the source of the big misunderstanding.

You can wear whatever you want, I thought I had made that very clear when I have said it's casual. I tried like heck to NOT have demands on anyone for what they wear, I just don't care! When I say 'casual dress allowed' and that shorts are OK, I certainly would also approve of long pants. If t-shirts are OK, then so is a sweater. To me it is obvious. I want you to wear what you want to wear for the day.... How this got pinned down to some unfair demand on my part that everyone wear shorts whether it is cold or not is beyond me.

Lets just take this as a big HUGH miscommunication, OK? I am really looking forward to you guys coming, I am really hoping for a nice day, but in packing for Western Washington, I would bring jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts or a sweater, and indeed shorts if you want because sometime during that week you may see rain, sun, clouds and cool foggy mornings, and temperatures from 50-80.

As for what you wear to the ceremony, don't make that a big deal. Be comfortable. That is all I ever wanted. What I was aiming for here was that people didn't show up in heels and panty hose only to be told to stand on sand. That they dressed to sit on the beach in Washington... that they dressed for the weather we are given that day.

OK? - Pinging everyone coming just so that everyone understands what to bring, and we can talk about the other details that are a lot more fun, like just seeing each other again!
