Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh, well, me too. I have 10 staff. 10 wacko raving mad leftists. They love the media and think them the font of all truth and justice.

Get used to it after awhile. Becomes a game. But when I've got my year and a half in I'm going to really dig hitting the market surreptitiously.

Heh... my first trip to Austin was over a Labor Day holiday. It hit 107 while I was here... stepping out of the apartment door felt to me like stepping into a blast furnace.

Places to live... Rose can probably give you more detailed information. West of I-35 is better than East. North of the UT Campus, or south of downtown, is better than in between the two. Housing prices are in a bit of a decline right now, so probably better to wait for them to fall some more before buying. Also, you might want to consider buying a condo rather than a house; would probably be easier to re-sell when he's done with school.

Would you like us to send you an Apartment Locator guide? It lists and, I think rates, all the aparment complexes in Austin.

I went to my ten. Was a big mistake. My 25 is comin' up, and I dunno if I'll go to that one. The worst thing is that it's just all about showin' off, and I don't do that well, mainly 'cuz I just don't care whut any of them are doing, or how they feel about me. Not concerned.

I figgure if I really liked those people, I'd still be hangin' out with 'em, and I woudn't need a reunion to find them.

I think it is interesting.... pop some popcorn and just watch people. Some surprising things happened to folk in my class... The principle's son spent hard time in the joint. Doesn't get better than that. ;~D

At least they aren't DUers, who are under the delusion that CNN and NPR are examples of a "conservative media bias".

I have to admit... at my ten it was interesting to see some folk that surprised us all. The guy that was the biggest stoner in the class... Trans Am with-bird-on-the-hood and everything... total head case that you figgered would be in jail... turned out to be an MD just finishing his residency. And the total brainiac in the class was stuck in a dead-end state job and hatin' life.

Then there's me... I dunno what I'd tell anybody. I'm in a whole different world than I was at ten.

I really think that the "DU'er" syndrome and their divisiveness will ultimately get bad enough to threaten civil war again someday.

It'll be short, though... we have all the guns. :-)

at my ten it was interesting to see some folk that surprised us all.

what surprised us then, and now, is the mortality rate in our class... 23 outta 172... 13%... that don't include the currently incarcerated...
