Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I ain't gonna do any more than wade, though... I got me a touch of the same phobias that Ruthy does. ;)

Jeans are fine, really.... we did think the other day we didn't mention that.... seems we assume if it's sunny you'd rather have shorts than a dress. But definately, bring jeans if you think that's what you'd rather be in! I am planning to change into clam diggers.

Shorts or long pants, either is fine. I myself will decide which to wear that morning, depending on the current weather conditions.

Well...just give us an idea of what to expect in the way of temperature ranges and all and say "dress appropriately".

Maybe I'd better look at the climate data for Seattle in June. :)

Methinks eloping woulda been easier, and saved folks the trouble of freezing themselves to death.

saved folks the trouble of freezing

If it gets below freezing, I'll put a jacket on over my Hawaiian shirt.

I think we've already done that! Anything could happen in the morning and then something comepletely different in the afternoon. That week you could feel sun, rain, clouds and cool mornings. Temp range 50-80. Bring shorts, bring sweatshirts, bring tees.... Really, if it is sunny, it'll feel like Florida in January did. It's been nice like that alot this spring.

Oh dear... I have gone and done it. Went to the water park today, Elf-boy was there for three hours with some of his buddies, babygirl and I were there for a little over an hour. My kids were protected from the 90 degree weather, but I FORGOT TO PUT SUNSCREEN ON MYSELF.

I am just a bit tender. Gonna have a farmer tan from you know where though... if it ever tans. LOL! (I don't usually tan unless I am out in the sunshine *alot*.)

Understood... but there's no bitey things in the waters here. Not a single one. The closest thing to a shark is a relative of sandsharks called "dogfish". They're small, and I suppose if you caught one and held it up and stuck your finger in it's mouth it might bite... but even then it might just hurt a little. Actually a salmon probly has bigger and more painful teeth.

They don't bite anything, well, "off".

Nothing bites here. Even the sand fleas *here* don't bite. The fish don't bite. The seals don't bite (people). The otters don't bite (people). The absolute worstest thing might be the occasional red jellyfish... but they're uncommon and you really gotta work at it to get stung... they only sting a little... sorta like a mild sunburn, and it goes away.

It is a wonderous world of harmless wildlife. It's God's country.

Yikers.

I've got so much Norway in me that I don't really tan at all. I burn. Sorta explains why the Vikings never plundered the Carribbean.

Rationally, I know all of this. But you should know also, that the summer after I saw Jaws I refused to go swimming in any of the numerous freshwater lakes where I grew up. I was 12. Phobias aren't rational!

Besides, I'm an Earth sign. I just don't feel comfortable in the water... ;)

Heh! I was wearin clam diggers, no shoes, and short sleeves. My feet, legs from knees down, hands, and arms are red as lobsters. My nose is pretty much red as well. I think this burn will fade some by tomorrow, but one never knows about these things. Just in case, I am not planning on wearing shorts any time soon. Boy would that look funny!

I am *so* thankful I wasn't wearing a swimsuit (I wouldn't be caught dead wearing one o' dem anyway). Wow! Would I be crispy then!
