New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Will do! Thanks!
I know exactly when I got skeered of bridges when I was a kid. A family's car rolled off a cliff into Lake Whitney and they were all pinned in and drowned. The place was purdy close to Grama's house and at a park we used to go to. I was maybe 3 or 4 and Grama's dad had committed suicide by drowning himself not too far from that place also after doctors found cancer in his brain when I was 1. Grama was kinda shaken up about it and I picked up on that. Till I was about 30 I was terrified of bridges with lots of water.
;-)
Drinkin' lemon maté here. I still want to get a bag of the plain, loose leaf stuff one of these days. Bet it'd be good with mint.
It'll be 90 here, too. I'm in shorts and sandals... I went to Borders last night to pick up a couple books, and I'd changed into shorts, because it was 76 or so, quite warm. As I'm walking around, I see this Amish guy... beard, suit, hat, everything - in the cd section, which was odd. Anyway, it made me feel like a shamless hussy for about three seconds.
Is lemon mate tea? Or what?
Goood morning.... Flag looks especially dismal there with no wind.
Burgers we can do well at home on the grill! If we are eating at the tides, we might as well have the fish and chips!
LOL! Too funny. Wonder what he'd want with CDs? Hm...
Could've been an "old order" Mennonite. They still wear the traditional dress, but don't shy away from technology. At our church in DC the senior (and founding) pastor was a Mennonite. He founded the church when he was already in his 50s. When he moved to DC it was the first time he'd worn a necktie.
That's an active link so refreshing will change the picture.
Yeah, a sort of tea...if herbs count as tea. Highly caffeinated.

Ah, could have been. There are Mennonites around, I see their girls out sometimes - all wearing the same dress pattern, and the little hats, but sensible tennis shoes, so they can't be too bad.
It's a couple hundred foot fall.... I'd recommend not going over at all, you aren't gonna survive the impact. ;~D
Good morning smaagee!
47 degrees in thick fog this morning in Olympia! Hope it helps to know cooler places exist!
You're so helpful Hair. On the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (the one in Maryland) they used to have people who would drive your car over for you if you couldn't handle it. Don't know if they still do.
I always made the wife drive. (I don't do heights).
I hate bridges. I remember being driven over the Bay Bridge and keeping my eyes closed all the way (when I was six, admittedly.)
Morning, Hobbit Hole!
I woke up late this morning and am finally catching up to where I need to be in my to-do's. Thank goodness tomorrow is the last day of school for Becky. It'll be a relief to have that pressure taken off in the mornings.
That bridge looks VEY cool. And now I realize that this trip to WA is going to go a long way in helping my conquer all of my silly phobias.
Heights, water, flying, etc.
I'll practically be a daredevil by the time I come home! LOL!!
You know, looking at that pic of the Atlantic again reminds me of Entmoot. I was really surprised at how different the Atlantic looks than the Pacific. I thought it would look like a mirror image of our ocean, and when I saw it for a week, I couldn't get over it being ~calm~.
I sure wish I thought there was time for everyone to go see the Pacific here. It is NEVER calm. never. Not in the middle of the night or the nicest weather. Surf is always crashing.... old waves from storms out at sea who knows where. There is always this distant roar of the sea. Never quiet. The wind is always blowing too, at least breezy. It's just very different, if you've only ever seen the Atlantic.
Course going to the ocean when the surf is really up would be super cool.
Would you like me to send you some? I could put some in a baggie and mail it. Course, we'd have to hope the postal inspectors didn't get curious and freak out! :-)
Being able to get out of the car ain't a problem, is all I'm sayin'... ;~D
