Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It also has some chopped parsley and fresh basil in it.

Just pulled it out of the oven a few minutes ago...smells good.

I was lazy...didn't feel like mixing up a crust.

Two baby deer just started feeding right below my bedroom window--they're so cute! :)

That does sound really good. I finally have some volunteer basil coming up in a couple of places. That's a happy happening. And a nice bit of parsley - but I need to weed that patch out badly.

You might want to consider some of the lower light type plants and flowers, like are found in the forest understory.

I actually do have a few things like that on the other side of the yard. I think a couple of things have happened though with the "sunny" side. 1) the trees have grown more so are providing more shade and 2) I think there are two in question that are leaning more since the hurricane and thus are covering more area. They're coming out this summer as soon as I win the lottery.

wonder were I could find someone that works for "that" department...;-)

I saw your post earlier about having to make something with ricotta, and remembered that I needed to do the same thing. I had soem ricotta, some sour cream, and a lot of almonds. Guess what I made... Cheesecake! More correctly, chocolate almond cheesecake with splenda. It is still baking right now, but it smells wonderful.

Or as I like to call 'em, Venison and Venison Jr. :)

Cheesecake is what I made last night (mine had ricotta, cream cheese, and egg whites). So I made the zuchinni quiche with the yolks, the rest of the ricotta, and some cheese that I wanted to get rid of.

I set out the rest of my plants today that I had on the deck. All except for the rosemary and lavender. Everything else was gettin' too big for their pots.

huh... You have volunteer basil. We have volunteer tomatoes and potatoes.

The tomatoes are second year volunteers. The potatoes were completely unexpected, in the compost heap of all places! (We had a couple of hugh baking potatoes that got mushy, so we composted 'em, and well, now we've got baby potatoes out of it.)
