Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Can we eats it, Precious? Geoduck If you can get to it, sure...
they are 2-3 feet down, and digging them out is not for the uncommitted. Commercial geoduck harvesters harvest them with divers, and a big undersea sand blower.
You can't dig a three foot hole in sand. It fills with water and collapses. My friend Lisa has tried many times and failed. More often, you end up accidently just chopping off the neck with the shovel and wasting it.
We have horse clams that are ~almost~ as big, and not as deep, but even they are at least a foot or two down and not ~easy~. And horse clams are little tough to just ~eat~, a little like eating a car tire.... but OK chopped up fine in chowder.

'Morning!
No hobbits were stirring earlier, so I popped a DVD in the ol' 'puter for a couple of hours.
LF...so the deer haven't eaten your garden yet?
Guess I'll work on my patio some...deadhead some flowers and clean up the plastic pots. Maybe I'll get in some flylady-ish chores today.
To: 2Jedismom
If you were staying longer, the better clam dig would be for little butter clams, like you see in the stores. We have lots of them, but you need a couple days to let them clean out in fresh sea water or they are full of sand.

LF...so the deer haven't eaten your garden yet? Nope, so neeener-neeeener-neeeeener to Doughboy and his ignernt, obnoxious beer buddies. The only things nibbling are a few slugs and they'll be encountering beer traps one day soon.

We've got weather coming!
To: Lil'freeper
Yaaaaaay! Got tix to the 11:30 showing of Harry Potter. It will be miserable: it's rainy, so no little league or soccer games- the theater is gonna be packed. :(

Slacker deer!
To: Overtaxed
Er, make that the 12:30 show.
Can't wait to see one of my favorites:
I'm sure deer will become a problem later in the season. Right now there's plenty of food for them in the woods. That may not be the case later on.

Well....have fun at the movies. I guess I'll be just hanging out pretending to get something done and watching and/or listening to baseball.
I'm busy thinking about second breakfast....guess I'll go and make it now: frittata (with 2J's chicken eggs) and sausage.
To: Lil'freeper
Come to think of it, this is gonna be a triple threat movie!

Yep, that's the plan....into the kitchen...make a frittata...fry up some sausage. Believe that's what I'll do. Maybe some juice...already had coffee.
Yes...that's the plan, all right.

I don't recognize any of thos people.

These a few of my most favoritest actors. Alan Rickman on the left, Jason Issacs in the middle, and Gary Oldman on the right. Pop icons, they are not. They are fabulously talented actors and I love the characters they make. Rickman's voice makes me swoon. Issacs plays the most delicious villians. Oldman is just fun- he melts into every role and has played everything from Beethoven to Dracula. *sigh*

That shot of Mt. Rainier is looking right over toward me!
Amazing to see that inlet so narrow at low tide -- from my angle here it is quite a wide body.
To: Lil'freeper
Er, lets learn to spell: Jason Isaacs.
sheesh
