Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Can anybody help me identify what this is? It comes up every year by the side of the house. This is the first year I've seen it bloom. It don't look like a weed, so I'd transplant it if it's worth it.

I bet someone at a local nursery would know. You should take the pic in sometime and see what they say.

I may do that. I could even take a leaf and a bloom. 'Course then they'd tell me it's deadly poisonous and I'm gonna die afore I get back home.

Later. I gotta go make a decision about opening the pool. Whaddya think?

Good morning Hobbit Hole.

I have assumed my "normal" screenname again, much to trini's relief. *grin*

I'm here at the office, trying to get another inch or two of this stack of paperwork off of my desk. What a bummer!!

Hair and ecurbh - that "tide" gif was indeed one of the coolest things I've seen!

Isn't that tide gif cool?

Sometimes I watch the sky, sometimes the water, sometimes the various people and critters that appear and disappear, sometimes just watch the dock/ramp float up.

It was a HUGH file, couple hundred megs, at a larger picture size, too bad because there are a lot of details that can be seen.

Good morning!

Wow. We all slept until nearly 10. That never happens. I'm about to leave to go see a friend. Or see a movie with a friend, rather. Probably I'll be gone all day.

I think we have the same weather here, Corin. Ugly, not actually raining, and cool.

There is a lot to look at even as a small picture size!

I'm glad I'm at work because I doubt I could have seen it on my lousy dial-up at home.

geoduck

Geoduck? I never heard of that. Life is so sheltered in Indiana.

It's pronounced "gooeyduck", and I wouldn't be surprised if most of the clam in production clam chowder is geoduck. They are just a really big clam, and that whole neck is edible, lot more bang for the buck than little butter clams. Geoduck

LOL. I normally don't drink unless I'm at an ocean. Water always makes me want a margarita. If you prefer, you can have an Irish coffee for me. That's OK for the morning, isn't it?
